My PCP wants me to start incorporating strength training and I found the adjustable dumbbells I previously bought and I am irritated that having carried an extra 100 pounds with me at all times didn't somehow prepare me for intentional targeted stuff.

I live off a road that serves as a main passage for three local schools - elementary, middle, and high - so it is not unusual to see kids of all ages walking to school. The younger ones with their parents, older ones with their friends.

As the country experiences yet another elementary school shooting today it continues to sadden me to think that any one of them, on any given day, may be strolling past my house on the way to their death - and the response continues to be empty thoughts and prayers instead of action.

I suppose it's a positive sign when your local cashier congratulates you on weight loss. Less positive is responding by saying "Thanks, I'm trying to get healthy." and then proceeding to buy a monster and a pack of smokes. Smoking cessation meds start tomorrow so fingers crossed this attempt takes.
