Musical theater even at the community level is hardcore. The kiddo had a successful first show in Shrek and is now a lead supporting in Freaky Friday! She’s playing Fletcher Blake. She has a 30 second singing solo and has a ton of lines. It’s awesome when your kid finds their “thing”!

It’s the first day in weeks I haven’t had to run errands, have a field trip, go to rehearsals, libraries, and as an introvert that battles with burn out after one outing, it felt great. I honestly miss the days where we never left the house because of Covid.

2025 has already been one of the longest years. 20 days in.

I have a new level of respect for the musical theater kids/families. We have rehearsals 4 times a week, 2 hours each day. Some of these kids have multiple shows they’re rehearsing for locally, dance classes, vocal classes, etc. Even though she’s tired, she’s still excited and in disbelief!

The kiddo had her first ever audition this weekend for a a local musical theater production of Shrek the Musical, Jr. and a LOT of kids auditioned and she got casted! We’re so so proud of her and her/my schedule is going to be packed with 8-10 hours of rehearsals per week and 3 show days! 🎭

A sad side effect of tirzepatide for me is the lack of enthusiasm for holiday sweets. Everything is okay in moderation. Obviously a cookie here and there isn’t going to stop progress but even the smell disinterests me. Baking has been a tradition for the kiddo and I but this year is different. 🫤
