Contributing to open source using AI can be a win for both maintainers and contributors, but it takes some thought to keep that balance. I wrote a blog post about some of the strategies I use when contributing to a new codebase. niccrane.com/posts/ai-ope... #rstats #ai #opensource

Will definitely include this example in my next talk on how to name files! β Full marks for "make it easy to guess what the heck something is, based on it name".

BTW this "Frequency Reduces Difficulty" post from @martinfowler.com is the origin of the mantra "if it hurts, do it more often" (at least, it's where I learned it). It's amazing how broadly this applies. martinfowler.com/bliki/Freque...
I bet the whole reason he's thinking about this is that I was complaining to him (to everyone, really) about the pain of using Windows full-time while my macbook's logic board gets replaced. And he brought out the house words "if it hurts, do it more often!"
Three phrases that capture some of the tidyverse team culture: Everybody takes out the trash We suffer so users donβt have to If it hurts, do it more often

Canadians seem to be realizing that maybe they don't want their own mini-Trump after all. The colors associated with the 2 main parties are basically the opposite of the convention in the US. This shows a dramatic improvement for the Liberals (red, ~Dems) relative to the Conservatives (blue, ~Rep).
