kids' science center with experiments that regulars had done over and over; they'd come up and ask if we had anything new, and we'd say nope, still the same experiments. so i would sometimes teach them origami, which both kids & parents LOVED. got ~a talking to~ for going off task 🤪

I was a public librarian in a small town in northern Florida, and I got pulled into the office and reprimanded because a concerned citizen watched me drink a few beers at a Tuesday night team trivia. For this and many other reasons, I am no longer in northern Florida.

Maybe they should have taken the hint the first time 😂 Mine was effectively ‘being too supportive of my subordinate learning new skills related to the job’ because they didn’t want him to have the skills to move up.

Not quite the same thing, but I got transferred to a department everyone knew I would fail at because when my boss said "tell me what you think of how the project went, I want your honest opinion" I did. He didn't like "you gave unclear direction and you need to stop being afraid of the clients."
