I’m about to embark on a five-day Center Parcs holiday with the sprog’s BFF’s family. We’ve not been away with them before. Together, we will be a melting pot of teenage girl hormones, perimenopause, adhd, and autism. Wish me luck.

It has become a tradition, at the insistence of the kids, to do a midnight bike ride, doing a lap or two of the park. I always forget how fun it is until we’re doing it.

Just googling the boat instructions to see if I can get it out of Eco mode and speed it up to cause mayhem on the lake. No joy.

We just played Uno. This was a mistake. Some people wanted to play by their house rules, other people wanted to play by the actual rules that are written on a piece of paper and marked as The Rules. There were arguments.

The sprog and I have been watching Andor leading up to a full Star Wars rewatch. We finished last week and did Rogue One immediately. Today, mummy’s away, I’ve set up the projector in the bedroom, and we’re doing A New Hope, a movie neither of us has seen for eight years. We are both very excited.

The sprog is ill, so instead of doing the things we were meant to today, we’re cuddling up to watch movies. First up: Escape from New York The synopsis starts “In a dystopian 1997…” which I joked was further in the past for her than it was in the future from when the movie was made.

“Is he trying to be Solid Snake?” “No. Solid Snake was inspired by this character.” “Was Solid Snake not around then?” “This movie was made in 1981!” Right. We’re going in.
