I hope El-Sayed's parents, who are private citizens, hire a good lawyer and sue the fuck out of this fool for defamation. Enough.

*tugs at collar and looks around nervously* Whoa, sixteen percent, that’s, uh, weird. Who would think that?

Not for nothing, but this is the upside of most Americans neither knowing nor caring what socialism is. People are broke. The people in power did this to them. So they don’t care what you call it, they just want some help.

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

Detroiter Nicole Williams when asked if Abdul El-Sayed is ‘a bit too left wing to win in Michigan’: “At this point what do we have to worry about? Anything but what we have. We're on our way to hell, so at this point: socialist, socialize, social, dont matter to me, lower my cost of living!”

FWIW, the Republican party has done that in Nevada the last couple of cycles with their Senate candidates because they were dumb as a box of rocks. Well, Sam Brown may not have been dumb, more so just a terrible candidate. Still, it almost worked, but failed both times.

It’s wild how he can be such a good DC and utterly lost as a HC. He’ll have coordinator gigs for years, but you have to think this is it for his head coaching chances.

I’m not even sure Saleh lasts the one season

I get that people will be mad about this, but none of these Trumpers are going to be removed by the Senate, the bar is too high. Congress should do the investigations, build the cases, and hand off prosecution to a Dem appointed DOJ in 2029. It sucks, but it’s what has the best chance of success.

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

*raises hand* Yes, thanks for taking my question. Does this mean the US is becoming a state-sanctioned refuge where foreign leaders who have committed crimes can come to avoid prosecution? And, does that mean Bibi will arriving soon? And finally, what does that mean for Trump given all his crimes?

Jenny Cohn@jennycohn.bsky.social

“Businessman & politician Simón Levy,” a Trump ally, “claimed on social media that a US operation was underway to ensure Bolsonaro’s security & identified [Rubio] as its alleged coordinator. Other media…picked up the claims, but none has provided independent evidence confirming Rubio’s…involvement.”

The powerful executives who cozied up to Trump didn't oops accidentally forget about pendulum swings. They either: 1) Like the fascism 2) Calculated it was here to stay, so going along was savvy 3) Saw no real downside, no consequences when the pendulum swung Crucial to show them 3 was a mistake

I’ll tell you what, in terms of a goal for 2029, we could do much worse than creating a climate that forces Stephen Miller and others from this admin to flee the country rather than face prosecution for their myriad crimes.

Kyle Clark is one of the top journalists in Colorado, if not the entire country. If he says 60 Minutes blew it on this Tina Peters story, that’s exactly what happened.

Kyle Clark@kylec.bsky.social

It was disappointing that @60minutes.bsky.social, with all its resources and expertise, broke zero new ground on the Tina Peters story. The report was just a repetition of what local journalists reported long ago.

I’ve never seen this many injuries in this short of a time frame on the same team. At this point, how do we just call it a season so these guys can heal—and not be shoved back into the game when they’re not right. 🦅

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

To be fair, the achilles heel of a Fangio defense is that it requires you to get pressure with your front four. If you can’t do that, it starts to fall apart. And the Birds’ DL has been all but worthless in almost every game this year. 🦅

Also, we should talk more about how the guy pushing these lies is not only the Republican party’s largest donor, almost single-handedly bankrolling multiple candidates, but that he’s spreading these lies on the website he owns that is designed to produce and spread non-consensual nudes.

I don’t think we should get used to a man this wealthy, this full of hate and this willing to demonize a small minority having so much power in our economy and in our politics. To defend democracy, we must defeat the oligarchs.

Interesting approach by Mike Rogers to make his loyalty to Elon Musk & the oligarchy an explicit part of his campaign earlier this year. “When you stand with my Senate campaign today, you are directly shielding Elon Musk,” Rogers wrote. www.metrotimes.com/news/mike-ro...

Thing is, you don’t have to ban it. Ban the advertising of it. Entirely. Like we did with smoking. Then give it a year or two and see what more you need to do. No one will miss those ads, honestly people may be happy you stepped up to do it.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

It should also be pointed out that more candidates in this year’s elections have been asked to disavow the Muslim Brotherhood than the president who has been repeatedly and credibly accused of rape.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

Dan Bongino basically said this was coming as far back as May. (Hannity at the time was also hinting at a 3rd indictment, although Hannity suggested it would happen in Florida and not DC). So much of what has been churning in right wing fever swamps for months is about to become a reality.
