My greatest frustrating has been with policy wonks who persist in thinking we can just keep doing normal policy analysis ("calling balls and strikes") in this situation. The President of the United States is both lawless and out of his mind. That preempts all normal discussion.

It's insane that inventory trends look like this and the market is like "eh, the President says it will all work out".

that school textbooks always attributed the discovery of fission to "Otto Hahn and Lise Meitner." Possibly even "Meitner and Hahn," which would make sense since she was the senior author of the key paper.

The famous Smyth Report, also in 1945, mentions her, pairing her with Otto Frisch as having told Neils Bohr "their guess that the absorption of a neutron sometimes caused the uranium nucleus to split into approximately equal parts." She got a raw deal on the Nobel, but she wasn't forgotten or erased or sneered at like Watson sneered at Rosalind Franklin. Here's a book published in November, 1945, "The Atomic Age Opens," a collection of articles about "atomic" physics for laypeople:

Yeah, I'm German and I learned about her in school. Most people that know anything about physics know who she is, at least in Germany. And she was also recognized amongst her peers during her lifetime. Max Planck nominated her for the Nobel Prize half a dozen times.

A case can be made she also should have been awarded the Nobel Prize. Her contribution was critical. But the overwrought phrase, "her name was erased from the discovery she made" is untrue to a comical degree. Her accomplishment has long been widely recognized in science.

10/11 That is why these sequences are so dangerous – they can take in the whole economy. When eventually either excessive debt or stricter policies rein in the market, it is not just property developers who suffer. A wide range of agents can get caught up in the adjustment.

11/11 Some economists insist that you cannot say that a market is in a bubble when presumably rational investors say it isn't. But the economy itself can shift investment away from"rational" behavior as long as agents have different risk preferences and realistic time horizons.

The way CEOs, media figures, and self-declared “thought leaders” behave towards Trump, you’d think his favorable/unfavorable polls were the exact opposite of what they actually are.

We don’t even know who did this or why. We imagine that we can guess, but history is replete with examples of why even entirely logical guesses could be wrong. We should stop drawing conclusions until we have actual facts we can base them on.
