I’m fairly rooting for the Brewers, so I’m not complaining. But I had been rooting for a compelling, excite-the-casuals Series, and that sure went away tonight. Also, I was hoping the Milwaukee fans would see the clinch at home, which seems unlikely.

The Hard Hat Riot is the single most important and consequential independently organized labor action in post-Gilded Age American history but the entire left-of-center has deliberately chosen to completely forget it because of how utterly embarrassing it is to us

this ai ethics training is 100% designed to assist people to justify their choices about doing something inherently unethical so they don't have to write their own emails

A lot of people are asking questions about my AI-generated antI–data center sign that are answered by my AI-generated anti–data center sign.

They traded normie suburbanites who‘ld let them do a lot as long as taxes were low for rabid exurbanites who don’t turn out. If they ran a normie in ‘28 or ‘32, the suburbanites might come home. But who in this party can run as a normie? By 2036 the suburbanites might just call themselves Dems.

there’s a very amusing dynamic in NYC DSA right now where, in response to Zohran’s YIMBY policies, a bunch of right-wing NIMBY nutcases are joining DSA to try and take over the organization.

To-do list for SD Mayor Pete and DSD Uncle Frank (and the transition team): - at 1201 rip down the stupid fucking sign, regardless of whether Congress has officially changed the name (not looking good for the 27 NDAA lol) - at 1202 issue orders to rename all the confederate bases back*

This ship sounds suspiciously like a CIA-funded spy ship designed to refloat the Edmund Fitzgerald.

This is correct, and obviously so. People need accommodations & should get them, but walking a few blocks to vote with your neighbors in a precinct where the workers have known you for years is the literal definition of exercising civic virtue, & this site's revulsion at it is incredibly telling.

Also I am sure that people on this website are going to fission mad at me over this, but voting is a social process. It's good and pro-social for us to all wander over to the neighborhood church or community center 1-2 times per year, joke with volunteers, and exercise our franchise together.

So this is about US fecklessness in int'l relations—the idea that discouraging Putin is the same as defeating him—but of course it overlaps with the general failure of liberal democracies to impose defeat on its enemies rather than merely knocking them back. The shibboleth here is that...

jailing these enemies—whether Trump in 2021 or bankers in 2009—would suffice, but Brazil & Korea are showing us that even that, let alone electoral defeat, is insufficient. It's a big fight, it's many fronts, and step one is seeing, clearly, that imposing defeat is necessary, and hard.

at the time I argued that the polls didn't accurately show a general election, that as voters got to know him Platner's numbers would shrink I never imagined that the polls might just be totally fake and imaginary but now with two fake polling firms being exposed, its worth asking

Jason BenettI doesn’t have a standard home run call, but this one’s available.

The reason why your corrupt strongman didn't solve all your problems is because you are actually completely wrong about what the problems and are how they should be fixed. And you know why? That's right: because you're dumb.

It was treated as a liberal conspiracy theory cooked up by bitter HR ladies who can't let go of Hillary Clinton. But it was always real and it was always happening in plain sight. It was something the press finally admitted was true after the Mueller investigation.

Like I’ve been saying, no playoffs, just 162 games to determine pennant winners, like Doubleday intended.

What you have to understand is that for all the wacky stuff you have heard or read about Florida, the real thing is weirder yet

Apropos of nothing, while SCOTUS shot down Biden’s most widespread student loan forgiveness, he did succeed in forgiving $188,800M in loans for 5.3M people. You’d be quite surprised to learn how much that is per person, and more surprised how this website reacted to it.

Incredible news. Need to start bugging PLI and my Council member and the Mayor.

Also there is that whole "right to a speedy trial" thing that we all seem to have just forgotten about. For people who claim to wring their hangs over what THE FOUNDERS might think, the Founders would be pretty fucking pissed court cases take months.

What’s wild about this one is that NPR listeners are by far the best informed about actual facts of governance—who holds what office, which party supports what policy, etc—but they’re still Like That bc of their priors. Evelyn Normielib watches network news.
