@xkeeper.net any advice for devs in corporate jobs where AI tools are being forced on us with the expectation we use them or find work elsewhere? It's not explicitly stated but they capture plenty of metrics regarding AI assisted acceleration and it would genuinely be nice not to worry about it.

It's bad enough trying to cut through the noise from AI PRs on personal OSS contribution, but now it's sucking the joy from my 9-5 role. If I speak up, I'm told to get with the times. Burnout or joblessness are both bitter options in this market. "Use the tools or lose your livelihood." Poison.

Driving in DFW is a futile exercise in finding the safest spot among a parade of primally activated suicidal Texans in the family's non-passenger-utility-vehicle in a mindless effort to prove the safe following distance is a myth invented by the left.

Started by trialing for a bit on my m1 pro asahi notebook. I'm still ankle deep, but enjoy the combination of niri's intuitive and creative modality and noctalia's aesthetic. I didn't realize how much I missed having a proper greeter, as well. :)

infuriating how obviously circular the relationship between industries like automotive and media are their journalism sectors is...

rax ‘levon honkers’ king@raxkingisdead.bsky.social

there should be no such thing as ‘elite journalists’ incentives are ass backwards that way. a journalist should be a grubby and suspicious little fuck

@tinygo.org I'm putting together a badge project and was considering a full-color e-paper screen, but I noticed the driver support only exists for up to 3 and 4 color e-ink displays. Is anyone currently working on driver support for any full-color e-ink displays?

Recently gotten into the habit of watching the copilot support chat for our org, and tagging profiles of the devs/architects who complain about running out of tokens because, "I'm out of tokens but I just ran an HTTP refactor through fable in agent mode."

To everyone out there who's suddenly upset about Google reading your emails, Google was always reading your emails. If the product is free, you are the product.

The Rust devs have such backward logic. "Supporting Linux means you're not serious about anti cheat." Wouldn't supporting Linux mean you'd in fact have to be more serious about your anticheat? If you don't want to support Linux because you can't be asked, just say that instead of blathering.

It is okay to be technically savvy and require assistance with software/hardware you don't understand. Ask for help and read the docs instead of bemoaning the tech for not catering to your prior experience. Your lack of understanding/capability does not preclude usability; stop crying and learn.

Self-proclaimed "tech savvy" users are more frustrating to teach than technically illiterate people on the basis of some perceived entitlement to understand all new technology within the paradigm of their current experience.

Windows/macOS users bashing modern Linux usability on the basis of their own ineptness is funny, but its even funnier when the same people refuse to use modern Linux the way it is designed. They almost always approach Linux from their now irrelevant 2000-2010's era experience, instead of learning.

Mike Portnoy's (and rest of the band's) performance in Dream Theater's The Dance of Eternity is so skillful and creative it is awe inducing. To date, I've never seen someone manage a kit of such variety to similar effect. It really speaks to his passion for percussion.

I genuinely wish there was a way to tune the reply hiding algorithm. This thing is hiding*slightly* negative otherwise constructive feedback @bsky.app. Are you using some kind of a sentiment analysis model and just flagging on a low threshold of "rude" lol

If you want to get rid of data centers, that's fine, but I promise you if you're on this platform you're not ready to live in a country without data centers.

There's something pleasant about the time of year when it's finally cold enough to make use of the stack of religious / political propaganda that piles up over time from depolarizing the little community library in our neighborhood.

ACA: brought US uninsured rate down to ~7%, made HC affordable, insurers benefit from more signatories & govt subsidies. Pre-ACA: insurers reject preexisting conditions, annual/lifetime payout caps, higher premiums, milk US consumers for profit, insurers benefit massively. Which is worse again?

Is it really too much to ask for people to do 5 minutes if reading a day to actually research the things they don't understand instead of believing everything they're told? I understand the uneducated prole suffering a lack of academic motivation, but some "educated" individuals are know-nothings.
