This is more about wellbeing than commerce, for the employer - when someone finishes their contract or job, it doesn't take much to say 'thanks, was great to work with you, good luck' just as you would to an employee or intern

Reminds me of looking at a north circular overpass in 2007 joestidbits.blogspot.com/2007/09/how-...

"I suspect you – and a lot of people who like the idea of underground electricity cables – don’t quite know what’s involved with installing them. The view might be nicer a few decades after they’re laid, but installing them is quite the process."

"We're allowed to read all of them?" - at this time in history, the new Carrie in her school library has done something wonderful in that moment 🥹

The great thing about having a goldfish memory is I gasp every single time 'omg Andrew Scott is in this!' but the casting is incredible throughout.

Shocking but not surprising. The world's policeman is on the take. Utter shitbag.

NEW: Ukrainian troops were caught off guard by restrictions on Starlink satellite internet systems that disrupted frontline operations, as Kyiv received no advance warning from its partners of a Russian missile attack on its energy facilities for the second day running, Ukrainian officials tell me.

I felt dread this morning, in the car, when on the radio they called it "Russia's war in Ukraine" but it was actually about a ship off the coast of Bulgaria, and food going rotten in France. It's ... something else now isn't it?

Stopppp I just discovered the Crewkerne thing and thought 'how can this be legal?', and that there's no UK law to stop someone making a video of me and my voice using AI and publishing it for profit!? WTF!? And who runs this awful thing?... that bloody Bonehill-Paine guy! Govt, uh we need laws!?!?

I find this absolutely fascinating. Not to insult clowns but this feels like that, is that what draws people in? Sort of hoping @aiannucci.bsky.social will explain this better on Strong Message Here. (If it hasn't been cut yet ... Or extended to an hour.)

Trump: I could say the stupidest things and you'd clap

Sorry to disappoint but the AI cloned video editing software is total ... what's the word... slop. Mine couldn't even fade up a single audio clip. It's funny to see, the poor impersonation of thought, in software. What did I expect!? This whole thing is such a delusional misfire, a lack of dream.

"On the [Zionism is Racism] motion, I voted and argued against it...but the clash of conference with an exciting and mobilising by-election campaign meant many of us were persuaded not to campaign publicly for these ends". Do you not see how absolutely damning that admission is?

My reflections this morning, some thoughts on how we build back better from here, and a message to members and constituents. 💚🙏

What the streamers and VOD services have done is revolutionary. And the investment in money and talent is keeping the industry alive right now. But nobody has actually replaced what curated linear TV does. And I’m not sure they can ever do that, or should want to.

Why are cuts to the BBC always the shows and the journalists and never the people who create the massive forms someone has to fill out to get money to make a programme, because they don't know anyone in telly actually and never watch it

“She asked the powers at NASA to let her add a safeguard to prevent that error in a real flight, and they laughed it off as too unlikely… When an astronaut did make that blooper during the Apollo 8 mission, it caused necessary navigational data to vanish, and they called Hamilton in to get it back.”

i was fortunate enough to profile Margaret Hamilton in 2019. A really kind and curious person. This was my favorite story she told me:

She wrote all that code by hand and it landed on the moon. Such an iconic photo. Here’s to Margaret Hamilton (1936–2026). What an incredible and pioneering woman for science. An inspiration to us all. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Ok Greens, I've got the answer to fix this! You want a one-state democracy river to sea. Currently the Palestinians don't have democracy at all! So, hear me out, why don't we campaign for Palestinian democracy... And if both democracies then want to join in beautiful union... They can vote on it!

I say this with exclamation marks but if anyone can tell me why this would be materially worse for anyone then go ahead. Always baffling to me, to be castigated by PSC for suggesting working groups for democracy.

I was robbed of the chance to mourn 10/7, not only by Israel’s fascist government, who waged a (predictably) indefensible war of vengeance and extermination against the people of Gaza, but also by the Western left, who celebrated, endorsed, and justified Hamas’s mass murder

The best time to start a new UK party to speak up for nature, the environment and connectedness was yesterday. The next best time is today.

Just some more bonkers things from the motion on the greens4pal website... It cites 'anti-zionism' as a protected belief to justify the right to criticise Israel. If anti-zionism is a protected belief... well then it's kinda obvious that zionism is likely to be one too!? (1/2)

Also bonkers: "Precise language is not merely beneficial, it is essential." Well yes, quite. It goes on: 'The Problem with the term antisemitism' and I can only roll my eyes until the darkness like to the abyss of the ignorance on display here consumes me. (2/2).

Fwiw I've had both Zionists and anti-Zionists say "you're one of us!" and that's another reason the green party can get in the bin. Sorry go on, I do think about other stuff but 1000x ugh.

"There's a conversation to be had about whether it's a perception of the Green Party imploding or whether it's actually imploding."

The 'anti-racist party in every way' has the same level guarantees behind it as the 'single democratic state with equal rights for all' – none. #greenparty
