MLB baseball broadcasts in 2036 (probably): The whole game is broadcast in ultra-slow motion replay, no live action, with animated graphic overlays and a spreadsheet scroll showing velocities, angles, probabilities, averages, & historical stats, while the announcers read ads for gambling companies

Live MLB games in 2036 (probably): The game is played on the field in sunshine, but all seats are turned toward a 1000 ft screen in the bleachers showing everything I describe above, plus a scrolling list of fans’ gambling wins/losses. Music is played and “Cheer!” graphics shown when fans win big

Times have been tough in this Ohio town ever since the woke mob closed the old Cheesecake Factory. So when Vivek Ramaswamy promised to legalize child rape, they finally had something to cheer about again. But then Obama said something elitist.

I’m seeing a lot of checked swing discourse. Can we please PLEASE not automate and digitize yet another umpire decision, stopping the live action game to show a video game graphic animating how a swing went .01 inches farther than it should.

what the actual fuck? this person is the Vice President.

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

This is my favorite bit of “analytical data” for the entire 2026 MLB season. It’s awesome: clear, accurate, indisputable in its statistical significance.

Just fun little reminder that the Padres scored more runs on the first four pitches they saw in the Wild Card Series than the Cubs did in two full games.

With MLB and WNBA playoffs in full chaotic swing, it’s a great time to remind people that every playoff team, except one, will lose its last game and its last series of the year. Losing is inevitable for nearly all playoff teams.

Extremely unpopular opinion: I really like the Liberty Biberty ads. They crack me up every time. The comedic timing is excellent, the stupidity is perfectly on edge, and the little yellow puffball is so amateurly rendered it reminds me of ‘70s Saturday Night Live fake ads.

Caveat: I work in advertising, so I also admire how such a simple campaign has generated so much online discourse for the brand. And I can easily imagine people still complaining about Liberty Biberty in 8 or 10 years.

It's just after 1pm on another picture perfect fall day in Chicago. So far today, masked federal agents have taken people from Brighton Park and suburban Aurora. ~1 year after the "Blitz" began, the alerts haven't subsided. ICE is still breaking windows and destroying worlds.

I just had a realization. The core issue with AI is that it doesn’t really satisfy any human needs as identified in Mazlow’s Hierarchy of Needs. We don’t need it. In fact, AI actually gets in the way of us meeting many needs.

We're in such dire media straits. I understand why MS NOW thinks they should break into regular coverage with news of their free press lawsuit against the White House, and also, it's so telling that they don't break into coverage for human beings being deported to random countries.

Ugh. I hate instant replay. It’s a big moment in the game, Suzuki makes a great fielding play and a strong accurate throw home for a close play. Cincinnati challenges. And all we see are 5 or 6 replays in super slo-mo of the slide and tag at home, no replays of Suzuki’s very good defensive play.

The US President's new proposal to tax international students has been approved by the White House for release this week. It's an unprecedented $100,000 tax on int'l grads who stay to work after graduation on Optional Practical Training (most grads do), a crucial bridge to remaining by any channel.

So, humans created weapons that can instantly destroy the human race & make Earth uninhabitable. We’ve designed very tenuous safeguards that rely on human thought & morality, to stop ourselves from using them. And now we’re creating a machine that can think for itself and has no morality. Hmm.

I’ve visited San Francisco a couple times, Los Angeles maybe 3 or 4 times, and I’ve been to the Phoenix area twice for spring training. I’m an upper Midwesterner.

Altho, the difference between cities “most like me” and “least like me” is only a very small percentage of answers, so really, I could be from anywhere.

Best concerts I ALMOST got to see, including reasons: George Thorogood (canceled) George Clinton and Parliament (canceled) Tricky (too tired) Chicago (left after the opening act—Earth, Wind and Fire—was so good that I didn’t want to ruin my experience)

How about this? Best concerts that you ALMOST got to see but DIDN’T. Include reasons if you like: Rolling Stones (play rehearsal) Johnny Cash (I dallied) R.E.M. (play performance) Nirvana (canceled, college declined to pay requested $500 appearance fee)

Broken swing sets? Missing basketball nets? Have no fear, Renew Crew is here. Neighborhood parks are meant for recreation — not frustration. If it’s broken, this crew will fix it. If it’s run-down, they’ll renew it. Renew Crew: Coming soon to a park near you.

I very vaguely remember the Vietnam war nightly news updates, and protests on college campuses. Much more clearly, I remember Watergate.
