Son is in final year of his Computer Science degree at the University of Galway (while working part time at HPE building AI systems). He just created following portfolio site...I might be a bit biased 😀 but think it looks very good (he is very open to any feedback) www.patrickoreilly.dev

Really like following that he has on the site....you can even play a game of chess against him (well, sort of, uses bot that has access to moves from games he's played 😀)

Started migrating my #KMP/#CMP samples to Swift Export, which means saying goodbye to SKIE, KMP-NativeCoroutines, and KMP-ObservableViewModel. A massive thank you to @touchlab.co and @rickclephas.dev for the incredible work maintaining what were essential libraries over the years! 🙏

What happens when Compose Multiplatform meets agentic AI? John O’Reilly demonstrates how Koog can power Android, iOS, and desktop apps using local tools, an MCP server, and both cloud and on-device LLMs. See the full-stack approach: https://kotl.in/lln3g8

I was also able to use this alongside Gemma 4 (on-device LLM) for a fully offline experience but wanted to firstly show here how easily EmbeddingGemma 2 could be used (independent of the LLM).

Also really like this image that Claude created to use in the article (based on real data that Confetti has for the conference)

📢 Big news for AGP support in IntelliJ IDEA! The latest EAP includes support for AGP 9.3, and it also comes with a new experimental flag to enable opening projects with future AGP versions, so you can open/sync projects with 9.4 or even 9.5 alphas! Feedback very welcome.

Looking forward to Android Dev Summit Extended in London in a few weeks time....looks like really impressive agenda lined up 🚀! #AndroidDevSummit

Moving from SKIE to Swift export in a Kotlin Multiplatform project johnoreilly.dev/posts/people... Swift export is still in alpha and continues to evolve so some aspects of this might change....but cool to see progress and looks like Kotlin 2.5.0 will be big release for the technology!

johnoreilly.devMoving from SKIE to Swift export in a Kotlin Multiplatform projectThe SwiftUI client in PeopleInSpace has, up to now, used the shared Kotlin code through the standard Objective-C based framework, along with SKIE to make that code nicer to use from Swift (for things ...

Have been going back and forth to Oslo for.15 years now and asked Gemini/Google Photos to show phone models used for taking photos there over that period! 🇳🇴

Kotlin Multiplatform iOS build times: what's actually driving the cost johnoreilly.dev/posts/kmp-io... Wrote up results of re-running some recent KMP vs Swift build benchmarks (including Swift export). How much Kotlin API you expose to Swift makes a big difference!

johnoreilly.devKotlin Multiplatform iOS build times: what's actually driving the costA recent article, The Hidden Cost Behind Kotlin Multiplatform on iOS, looked at what KMP does to the iOS edit/build/run feedback loop. It’s a good question to ask and the article also comes with a ben...

Added deep link support to FantasyPremierLeague #KMP sample using the new Navigation 3 deep link support. github.com/joreilly/Fan... One set of matchers in shared code that works on Android and iOS (and desktop), with a synthetic back stack so it lands in the list-detail layout.

Tried out Gemini 3.8 TTS in the FormAI app. A cool thing about this is that you can design your own voice 😀 "A warm, encouraging golf coach in his late 40s with a soft, lilting Galway accent from the west of Ireland, speaking with calm authority and plain, friendly directness."

The analysis itself was created using Gemini 3.8 (from video I uploaded), the specific TTS model I'm using is "Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite TTS" and the prompt was created by Claude 😀
