My guess is that AG Todd Blanche knows that he’s lying and committing misconduct, that this Alaska lawsuit/DOJ action is improper. He should think more about how his loved ones are and will be, for the rest of their lives, thinking about him.

BASH: What's the crime? AG TODD BLANCHE: What's the crime? Well it depends. There *could* be a crime. But the real wrong here is that Alaskans are gonna be confused. BASH: The Alaskan Supreme Court ruled 4 months ago on this matter

“Me” makes this a sadly true statement. Maine voters, please fire your very weak Senator Susan Collins. Your interests and our country deserve better.

Read Robert Rubin’s very commendable effort to wake people up to the *major* threats to U.S. law, government, economy, and world position that could be imminent, if Pres. Trump seeks to thwart fair elections.

New York Times Opinion@nytopinion.nytimes.com

“If the Trump administration launches an effort to manipulate the outcome of the midterms, the economic impact could be felt immediately, and it could last long after Mr. Trump’s presidency ends,” the former U.S. Treasury secretary Robert Rubin writes.

Some people try to grow and use their power to “get” other people just for being one of “them.” That’s prejudice, not rational, individualized, fact-based predication. Don’t be such a person.

A shameful, very low day for the United States The International Criminal Court embodies rule of law values that have defined the U.S. since 1776. That includes the proud U.S. 1945 role in creating the ICC’s ancestor, the Nuremberg international tribunal. www.bbc.com/news/article...

bbc.comUS unveils sanctions on ICC in move court condems as 'assault on rule of law'The European Union described the move against the International Criminal Court as "deeply regrettable".

Read Justice Sotomayor’s written, brief, reasoned dissent. Two excerpts: * The Court’s action is “stunning[].” * “Today, the Court, as it has too often lately, chooses to overlook th[e] principle [that it is a court of review, not a court of first view,] precisely when it matters most.”

Botched execution. There is a precedent —an awful one: Willie Francis. Have we in the U.S., starting with the Supreme Court, become more decent since then? Tennessee Fails to Execute Woman After 2 Doses of Lethal Injection www.nytimes.com/2026/09/30/u...

Outsiders don't know what happened in 2024, in the Cornell Univ. fraternity house, or afterward with campus police, Ithaca police, & the DA's office. It's very proper that DA now is, based on civil suit/rape allegations (predication), investigating possible crimes. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/28/n...

In the context of the horrific Cornell rape allegations, think of Ruth Bader (Ginsburg): * Cornell '54 * civil liberties student * law professor & ACLU lawyer-trailblazer for women's rights * Supreme Court Justice author of U.S. v. Virginia, the pinnacle decision on women's equal rights.

ICE personnel and their government lawyers should visit the African Burial Ground National Monument. It is next door to 26 Federal Plaza.

When Trump launched “the largest deportation operation in the history of our country” without ICE facilities to accommodate it, inhumane overcrowding was inevitable. Judge Kaplan’s 9/24 ruling shows the results. Diagrams simulating a NYC holding cell in Aug 2025 look like slave ships. 1/5

Who was the last president not to interview candidates before nominating someone to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court? Ford in 1975 when he picked Stevens? George W. Bush in 2005 when he picked Miers? ??

It is improper to congratulate a prosecutor on a court judgment. It is proper to note important prosecutorial work done well. Kosovo Special Chambers former chief prosecutor Jack Smith and his colleagues did so here, in the Thaci et al. cases.

Thank you for speaking up, Frank Kendall (former Secretary of the Air Force). This is aimed first at General Dan Kaine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hope that he reads this, really thinks about his oath, & then rethinks his refusal to make normative judgments.

“Denial is one of the two approaches the nation’s senior military leaders seem to have taken to cope with Donald Trump’s presidency,” Frank Kendall writes.

Yes, speak and write truthfully: 1861-1865 in the U.S. was The War of the Rebellion. It also was The Slaveholders’ Rebellion. It was not a “Civil War” or a “War Between the States.”

Tofel proposes, with draft language, constitutional amendments to end partisan gerrymandering, elderly presidents, and politicized Supreme Court appointments. This essay is very good, and wise. I hope that it ignites political action.
