According to a couple of people, my stance on AI is entirely down to people "now preferring AI porn", which I'm apparently angry about. Pretty sure those are the same people saying (since 2016) that I needed to be "red pilled"..... and who don't get why that's funny.

Fond memory of "Spelunx" popped into my head. It was one of Cyan's games, before "Myst". Well, I say "games", it was from the golden age of "edutainment" and was mostly a series of images you could trigger animations within by clicking on hotspots. I should make an homage :D

The handful of people that take umbrage to my occasional political cartoons never make an argument in favour of what I criticise/mock. It's always "You're not seeing what you're seeing", "Why aren't you talking about this other thing?" or "You shouldn't HAVE an opinion."

If you've an argument in favour of something; make it! You might win people over! Of course, if you CAN'T make an argument, you might want to question just what the hell you're waving your chosen flag for.

The complaint that "toxic algorithms" keep you scrolling on social media is the same as the complaint that MacDonald's makes you fat. You're the one putting the burger in your mouth. If that's what a PARENT lets their child eat; THEY are the ones at fault. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

bbc.co.ukSocial media algorithms: What if you could turn them off?The Australian government hopes to protect social media users from being served content they don't want to see.

I love looking back at my older Minecraft worlds and all the surreal structures I built in them. It's like leafing through an old sketchbook: I know it was ME that put those weird marks on the page, but I can't quite remember what it was supposed to be or what it was for.

AI has cloned Adobe's creative suite. It's available for free. I'm very wary "vibe coded" slop so I've not tried them out. If Adobe ditch their subscription model and return to one-off purchases, I'll go back to supporting them. Until then: I'm happy to watch AI gut them.

I get the poisonous appeal of AI "companions", but in an age where every tech company under the sun is harvesting your data; you must have to do some pretty major mental gymnastics to convince yourself that no one is listening to you talk to your imaginary friend.

"They can take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay." Trump goes full Farquaad..... forgetting that he's handily marked every building he owns.

Bullsh*t. This isn't what "creativity" looks like. It's what a grumpy bastard chasing perfection looks like. THAT is hard graft. "Creativity" is the fun bit where you're playing around with crazy concepts, free of the boundaries a finished product requires. It's pure joy.

So, AI tools/assistants that automatically agree with, flatter, or validate a user's ideas rather than challenge them in any way, are known as "Yes Machines". ..... and he wants to rebrand "ai" as "si"? It's funny because he would never, ever get why that's funny.

Panic-merchants are claiming indie games are "cooked" because they saw footage of an AI-generated Mario Kart knock-off. It's a knock-off. Just like all the AI generated images, music and text before it.
