Gloria Steinem, one of the most influential activists for women’s liberation, has died. Her life reminds us how change happens. Politics rarely changes willingly. Progress happens when people organise, build demand and refuse to accept the status quo.

Framing adaptation to climate change without rapidly cutting emissions isn't pragmatism; it's genocidal in the truest sense. It says the profits of the few are worth more than the lives of the many.

It's time we divest our hope from corrupt politicians and the fossil fuel industry acting in the public interest. We should be listening to climate scientists, engineers, economists and the communities already living through the consequences.

The greatest challenge of our time isn't climate change, artificial intelligence, inequality or democratic decline. It's whether humanity can develop the permanent capacity to act in its shared interest. Everything else follows from that.

Absolutely. There's a huge piece around "do we need AI," but at a very basic level, data centres need to be self funded, and carbon neutral. How about companies building them must build the renewable energy generation, plus a 50% surplus to export yo the local community? For a start...

Excellent conversation Zack. I'm just editing my book on this subject. We've talked for too long about what needs to be done. We now need to stop waiting for the right political wind and do it.

What happened in Ireland was not a famine. It was a genocide. What happened on turtle island was not a famine. it was a genocide. What's happening in Yemen and DR of Congo is not a famine. It's a genocide. What's happening in Palestine is not a famine. it's a genocide.

It's obvious to point out attacks against Muslims get ignored - but still needs repeatedly calling out. An Antisemitic attack should be reported and action taken. But where is the same media outrage, cobra meetings and calling of national emergency when 5 Muslims are attacked?

Note: Slaughtering innocent civilians is acceptable to our goverbment. In fact, we'll help fund and arm it. Protesting it is not.

🚨BREAKING: Filton 4 sentenced as terrorists Amnesty opposes the use of terrorism powers in this case. The defendants in today’s case were sentenced as terrorists because prosecutors want to make an example of them. Today's decision shows how direct action protesters could be treated in the future

It's extinction capitalism. Human life and the stability of our climate are just classed as tolerated waste, so long as profits and power continue to consolidate. And these pr*cks want us to increase defence spend? If we don't change this trajectory, there won't anything left to defend.

Donald Trump kills school girls so he can protect paedophiles. AND WE'RE PICKING UP THE TAB. If this doesn't fuel global outrage I don't know what will.

Marina Purkiss@marina-purkiss.bsky.social

Lets' brace ourselves... Our cost of living is about to rise. Again. Food. Petrol. Mortgages. Why? Because Trump needed a distraction from the Epstein files and another opportunity to make himself and his billionaire mates even richer And the result?

🚨 PLEASE REPOST 🚨 #Gaza is still facing genocide. While Israel’s assault continues, Trump's "Board of Peace" plans are underway to rebuild over mass graves for profit, without law, consent, or Palestinian self-determination. UK silence is complicity. Speak up. Write to your MP. Make noise.

The UN’s 2025 Global Risks Report ranks misinformation as a top global threat. When the public is misled, democracy, climate action, public health, and equality all suffer. Criminalising political deception protects truth, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making. Email your MP today.

We finally have a shot at criminalising lying in politics… And you can help. I spoke at an event this week where the room voted almost unanimously that MPs & Lords must be covered by the new offence of Misleading the Public Imagine if this went though And this is where we need your help…

🗽Robert Reich Trump is putting America on a war footing because war is good for him as it is for all dictators. War confers emergency powers. It justifies ignoring the niceties of elections. It allows dictators to imprison and intimidate opponents. robertreich.substack.com/p/trumps-for...

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic. It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today. Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

Zack Polanski, "The only way to be morally consistent is to condemn what happened on Oct 7th and to condemn the genocide in Palestine" "As a Jewish man I feel the genocide very very deeply"

Come on, this is just farcical. Nothing's over. Palestinians are being slaughtered. Now. The IDF will not stop until they take Gaza. Trump will let them so he gets his development rights. I've never had so much disgust for world "leaders."

Barack Obama@barackobama.bsky.social

My statement on Middle East peace

💯. Peace is subjective. For Netanyahu it's the end to Palestine and total Israeli control. To Trump it's Palestinians displaced or killed to make way for development deals. For Palestinians? An end to genocide. War criminals locked up. The right to self-determination. We won't get this version.

Zarah Sultana MP@zarahsultana.bsky.social

Peace means more than a ceasefire. It means freedom from military occupation and apartheid. It means Palestinians deciding their own future — not war criminals like Tony Blair.
