As much as City cheated and should be punished for that......the fact is that even though their ownership cheated by a huge amount, that amount is still 150 million smaller than the amount the Glazers have robbed from United since they took over as our owners. (1/2)

This is a big problem. If the last information people receive is always “numbers went up” because “numbers went down” is never reported we shouldn’t be surprised that perceptions about immigration end up so skewed. Media should take some responsibility here - this is a salient and polarising issue.

Revealed preferences suggest this 37% drop in small boat nunbers (first two quarters) is treated as ×10-x50 times less newsworthy than a 37% increase has been. Given high salience of the issue, should broadcasters try to check/balance that instinct?

If people feel the world around them is improving and progressing then that fear goes away. If people feel the world around them is disintegrating and they start to lose confidence and hope then that fear returns in abundance. Just something to consider in these troubled times!

Just watched the UN Security Council session on Iran.......with the exception of Colombia, Somalia and the guy from the Arab League just bat shit crazy........the US ambassador was a joke.....you expect the Russian, Israeli and Iranians to be headbangers but the US guy was just a jumped up Cowboy!!!

2/2 Labour Together/Progress types being #Defendersofthefaith for that previous govt and using phrases like 'stay the course' etc. Then truth is as always that both will make reasonable points and in some ways both will be right- but that both will be equally culpable in the defeat!
