@nba.com Really don’t love the "on next" feature in the bottom-right corner of the Apple TV app that appears when a game has 1 minute left and looks like it’ll auto-switch the game… It covers the score in some broadcasts, and a minute in a game is an eternity—just show it when the game ends.

at the same time, it’s satisfying to strengthen my little 12 year old app with a few extra guards to make sure this doesn’t happen again. always a great learning experience.

I hosted the inaugural “Ball.app Invitational” last weekend—a 3-team round-robin tournament with a championship game at the end, “sponsored” by ball.app (i.e., my treat to the guys). Way more gratifying than just working on the software. Can’t wait to do it again. 🏀

🚀 Today’s the day! I reunited with my friends at Stripe to build the website for joinopenstandard.com This one has a *ton* of little details (and easter eggs! 🥚) and I had a blast working with the folks on Stripe’s brand & web teams.

Just realized that one of my favorite easter eggs I made while at Stripe is still on the /jobs page… The monitor in the photo mimics everything you do on the page itself. 🥚💅 (only visible on Firefox because it uses an experimental feature)

Long overdue to get @cushionapp.com on here! Follow along if you’re into #buildinpublic bsky.app/profile/cush...

👋🦋 Hello Bluesky! I’m cushionapp.com, an app that brings peace of mind to freelancers. If you’re a freelancer—riding the ups-and-downs of the freelance life—I’d love to help you get on track! Built by fellow freelancer, @jonnie.com

Haven’t shared much online about a new 🏀-related side project, but I gotta start sharing these fun little details… Ahead of the NBA Finals, I added Conference Finals trophies to player avatars with Knicks/Spurs themes. 🏆

Now that I’m actively working on cushionapp.com again, I’m making sure to blog every feature launch, like I used to. Feels so good to bring closure to a launch and celebrate it, but also provides extra marketing content for new users exploring the features. Check it out here: cushionapp.com/blog

@esb.lol I don’t follow college ball closely, but seemed like ya’ll needed more than that one guy dribbling around while everyone else waited around at the 3-point line

Two somewhat contradictory beliefs I hold: 1. You should absolutely overengineer your personal homepage/blog/projects. Experiment with as many things as you can as quickly as possible. 2. If you _really_ wanted to write that blog post, you'd figure it out with a .txt file. Don't overcomplicate it.

Had a blast sharing a new side project at the AIR Show & Tell last night at Index Space. (and love seeing all the smiles after the fact since it was tunnel vision for me during the talk 😅)

I wish I could have AI in my IDE in the sense that I could tell it to never show me certain auto-suggestions ever again and it’ll listen and maybe even apologize.

In case it’s helpful to anyone else… my local `vercel dev` randomly slowed down to 1-2 sec for every request that went through it—even assets. No idea what it was until I realized that the requests were directly affected by the number of files in my repo. Using `.vercelignore` instantly fixed it. 🌠

Update: I got my hopes up too soon. While the fixed worked locally, it broke production and further attempts by the AI agent to fix it ended up down red herring rabbit holes and used up all my “premium request” credits for the month… in a single night. 🙃 bsky.app/profile/did:...

😳 Looks like I have a new junior dev.

I enjoyed watching the agent work, but also kept finding myself being like “Wait, no, no, no, don’t go down that path. It’s a dead end!” without the ability to pause and chime in to course-correct, while the agent racked up credits.
