Last fall, Edmonton police threatened to wage a PR war against prosecutors if they didn’t renege on a plea deal for the woman charged with killing Nina Napope Dumais, 8. Here’s my long read attempting to piece together what happened to Nina, and the fallout. edmontonjournal.com/feature/edmo...

Maybe this makes me a bad journalist but I’m coming around to the idea that we should just tell everyone the results once everything is counted the next day

Quick reminder: As of right now, the result of the election is locked in. Politicians don't "pull ahead" or "catch up." It's just the arbitrary way that the ballots are counted and reported.

This is a publicly funded government agency refusing to share weather warnings and their own public warnings with a journalist at Global News, one of the larger mainstream news outlets in Canada. I really want you to sit with the bare facts of that.

News: Alberta referendum question 6, in which the province asked for a mandate to seek more judicial appointment powers, has just recently flipped from yes to no. Looks like the other constitutional questions are inching that direction as well.

If you want a run down of Carney and Smith’s Red Deer meet up before they split to give separate speeches in the two major cities read it here: This will be updated after the prime minister’s Edmonton stop this evening. (I don’t think they finished their beers) ca.news.yahoo.com/carney-bring...

Edmonton police are investigating after a man was shot and killed near the Alberta Pipe Trades College earlier today. Another major police scene near Hwy 16 and RR 20, tbd if that’s connected

Edmonton folks: we need a new furnace and are mulling whether to also get a heat pump just for home cooling. Is there any reason we shouldn't do that? My understanding is if we use it for heating anywhere near -10 our electric bill is going to be absurd.

Lawyers on here can correct me if I’m wrong, but a problem I see with the AB NDP’s plan to end prisoner drop offs in Chinatown is you can’t hold someone until services are open & available. If a judge orders you released or your sentence ends, there’s no legal authority to keep you in custody

I get the feeling the lack of time change in Alberta is going to hit us like a ton of bricks. One of those things people aren’t going to truly understand until they’re in it, like parenthood or armed combat
