people anticipating a selloff in what is probably the only productive part of the economy, pray tell where you think this much capital is going to go instead?

joodaloop’s brain proves better than Opus 5.5 at data modelling CMON FRONTIER LABS ITS 2026 FINISH ME ALREADY

in total seriousness, today was the day i learned the difference between “it’s” and “its”

crazy how the word “thus” exists almost purely as a tell that someone did most of their writing in their college years

folding phones are a dumb idea what i really need is a phone that splits into two different phones

it’s also really easy to “fine, whatever” yourself into doing negative work when you’re really tired, in a way that’s impossible if you’re actually writing the code. with LLMs you can keep going past the point where you’d be unable to write a for loop by hand

SE Gyges@segyges.bsky.social

saying that LLMs makes you lazy is mostly incorrect, and ignores one of the actually harmful things about them: it means that as long as you're still capable of talking, you're capable of working. you can overwork yourself in ways that were never remotely possible before

i’ve been getting paid to make websites for over 3 years and i still haven’t gotten over: 1. delivering something i know could be better 2. having to accept decisions that i think make things worse

I think the biggest thing bsky could so to make the app better is just iterate of features Everything gets stuck at “almost done but not quite polished or good” forever. Communities will probably be the same

The core differentiating factor of Bluesky as a microblog is the default feed, and the value of the collective labor going into this potentially transformative affordance is dying on the vine

i would like to wish a very hearty go suck yourself to the engineers at Google who can’t maintain one measly XSLT parser with all their infinite agentic budget

text editing has probably done more damage to the fields of computers, HCI, and design than any other incentive or obstacle using runs of characters to represent everything everywhere all of the time, and then elevating it into sacred practices is beyond insane

if your design principles aren’t rooted in scripture…what are you even doing?

judah@joodaloop.com

if you aren‘t formalising your todo app to be invariant over permutations of the universe…what are you even doing?

anthropic: we are building the machine god that will be so smart we probably can’t control it also anthropic: we made the machine god speak better english and edit powerpoints 58% faster

i expect video editing, websites, graphic design and 3D asset generation to be solved on a “taste” level in a year from now (October 2027)

very simple answer to the “if ur so smart, why aren’t you happy?” question: they don’t want to be happy. they want to be all kinds of other nonsense *but* happy

“I believe onboarding should be universal and ongoing.” good prompt: what else should be universal and ongoing?

ok i'm just going to cross-post all my tweets to Bluesky for the forseeable future and see how it goes

you notice how it’s only programmers who say things like “software is over”? curious, eh? how the one group of people who only cared about code think that computers are just about code i suppose that “moving bytes around is solved” doesn’t sound as impressive but it’s closer to the truth

i know the Substack people love to celebrate that long form is alive and well but looking at the feed there i’m starting to wish it wasn’t there is a brevity to a tweet thread that trumps every 4k word self-indulgent rant that doesn’t even tell the truth by the end

overly long and winding also starts to feel like LLMprose because they’re constructing dozens of paragraphs of dramatic voice and repetition to Convince you of something that’s actually fairly hollow

TEXT IS NO LONGER THE MATERIAL YOU THOUGHT IT WAS no prizes for writing lots of it! no more mediocre self-indulgence! either be actually good enough that every sentence feels like a blessing or cut cut cut relentlessly so there’s less to suffer through

like, i get it, it’s supposed to be art but maybe we don’t need this particular kind of art it’s alright go do something else

it’s disrespectful to the format of the essay to use it in this way Montaigne was remarkably brief and precise in his posting, a true appreciator of just saying what’s needed

you can really tell that it's written by something whose only function is to be software that talks
