Looking at cookbooks online and... so many of them now look suspiciously like they were created by AI. Damnit I just want things made by humans. You know, recipes someone has COOKED that WORK.

Companies that send out the "your order has shipped!" notice when they've PRINTED THE LABEL and it takes a full week to actually *move* drive me crazy. Send me the shipment notice when it actually hits the hands of the shipper!

About half my races the photographers seem to be using OCR tech to make their photos searchable by bib number which is amazing. The other half is literally scrolling through thousands of photos trying to find yourself and eventually giving up.

"Only the strong survive" is dumb and outdated. Let's try: - only kindness should thrive - only zombies revive - smart folks always archive - cats should never drive

We cancelled our meal kit due to horrible quality/customer service so I decided to try a local one (Maven Meals). They're COOKED so takes everything off my plate and shockingly just a little more expensive than the meal kit was. Seattle folks? Check them out, last nights meals was DELISH.

There's a cool guy who posts run/walk pacing guides for marathons and the number of people asking him to "do this guide for a half marathon" has me 🤦‍♀️. Folks. It's exactly the same the total time will just be... half. We're living in Idiocracy.

True public service right here.

I've mentioned before I've updated my contracts to make sure everything in the production of my books is done by humans and not "AI"; if you're wondering what such a thing looks like, here's a clause covering that from a recent contract.

Me: I love Goretex running shoes I just need recommendations for ones up for higher mile runs. Runners everywhere: Oh no you don't want waterproof running shoes, horrible idea, just dry regular running shoes between runs! Y'all have never set foot in the PNW have you? Goretex is your friend.

I hate how Washington treats non-alcoholic beverages as alcoholic. An NA "beer" that has ZERO alcohol should not require age verification to buy. It is beer flavored soda for crap sake. And apparently same rules apply to NA stuff in pickup orders as alcohol. WHY? (Not the <1% stuff. 0%)

Cancelling a service I've used for years about 10 minutes after getting and "update" email lauding how now "all the back end stuff is done by AI guys!" And yes in my cancellation reasons I was very clear about why.

Miggy goes to get his belly shaved every six months to keep mats at bay. An elderly couple came in just as his hugeness was being carried back and commented on how large and handsome he was, and then the wailing started. Me deadpan at their horrified expressions "He's also dramatic."

We rainy half in the books. Was just hoping to SURVIVE this one given the hills (including a fun detour with a hill that should be illegal) but finished in 2:28:04. Y'all I PBed on a course I was afraid of, go do shit you don't think you can do.

It is a mark of how much my trail sisters have impacted me that I'm outfitted w my running vest, with a flash of coconut water, flask of regular water, maple syrup, tissues, and rain jacket for this half. I do not get how road roads just ... Wait until aid stations to be thirsty?

Met with a dietician today to talk about lower cholesterol and sports fueling and I could NOT remember the word gochujang to save my life. 30 seconds after call ended, ping! 🤦‍♀️ Gotta love midlife.

Best quote I ever heard on this concept was: “Parents don’t have rights; they have responsibilities. Children have rights, which ‘parents rights’ groups seek to undermine.”

RANGE Media@rangemedia.co

RANGE asked 4 local teenagers how they feel about the Parent’s Bill of Rights ballot measure: Privacy, parental rights and teen safety on the ballot in November as Let’s Go WA measure seeks to change parental rights in the state

Realizing the rain is set to return literally on Saturday when I run my half marathon and the GoreTex running shoes I have are NOT something I'd wear for 13.1 miles. $*@(#@ (they're fine for under 6 mile days, over that, absolutely not.)

Why are people so obsessed with "you don't have to keep your mics muted." Yes, yes you do. Otherwise you create feedback for F sake keep your mic off unless you are speaking. *sighs*

I already struggle to persist at doing hard things so this is even more of a definite no for me.

There's nothing wrong with you, and you are not broken. The world that should offer us peace, warmth, and a haunted old forest surrounding every town is broken.

Me staring at entirely redone bookshelves in satisfaction. "There now I can find everything." Me also refusing to look at the huge pile of purged books all over the floor. (I'm finally accepting that I'm not going back to parish ministry and it's time to move on those volumes.)

Got a lovely new (small) fountain pen yesterday. It arrived in a huge shipping box. Inside the shipping box was a big fancy display box. Inside that was a small (seriously SMALL) bottle of ink and ANOTHER BOX with the fountain pen inside. I literally have 3 boxes to dispose of.

Anyone else occasionally decide the piles of TBR books on the floor are an abomination and tear your whole library apart, purging books as you go, realizing things are misshelved all over the place and end up with a bigger mess than you started? Just me?

Therapists: Do NOT agree to meet someone in a Zoom/Teams/Google Meet room. You meet people in your secure telehealth platform and *no other way.* If they insist on their link: scam. Basic security: never click a link from someone you don't know & would trust with your unlocked computer.

And never click a link you didn't ASK FOR from that trusted person and are EXPECTING. Also: never click a link in email. Your "bank" sent you an email alerting you to fraud? DO NOT CLICK, go directly to your banking website and login, or call number on your card. DON'T CLICK LINKS IN EMAIL.

(really thought we all learned this stuff in like 2000 but clearly not, and yes I know a LOT of companies train us badly by constantly sending links to "login to view secure message." Bookmark shit and use your bookmarks. Links are insecure. Links are dangerous.

I'm really tired of tipping culture in the US. EVERYONE is getting tipped now. We were considering a new meal delivery service (Marley & Spoon has gone to crap) and as I'm checking out see that "staff tip" is included. No. Dear companies: pay your workers. End of. (This is not a restaurant.)

I'm tired of movies where the powerful witch is the baddie. (New Pixar/Disney thing I'm seeing). The story might even be good but no. Give me a pissed off powerful witch fixing shit. And yeah she makes a lot of people uncomfortable or worse along the way. That's what I need right now.
