"kids these days have too short attention spans to watch sport" Nobody but especially kids aren't going to spend £30 a month on a sport they have not been able to develop any attachment to.

Well first of all through God all things are possible, so jot that down.

If patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel, then "performative pietism" is surely the panic room inside.

Seasoned former pro Ed Laverack won the senior title ahead of Andrew Feather but also somehow one second behind junior winner Ezra Bateman who is 16 and on the CMA CGM Devo team.

Protestors are demanding the Pope does not permit the King of England to divorce his wife. Charles V must disavow.

Rome has fallen ‼️ Wonder why that's not been reported in the MSM? What else are "they" hiding from us? Follow me for more made up stories Link in next post.

Loads of people saying "don't forget the clocks go back tonight" The advantages of modern connectivity means I literally can and do forget. I *intend* to forget.

Always fun to look at the UK grid output in a storm. However, the interesting thing to me today is the average price for the year. At this, as predicted, the AR7 projects that won CfD in January would actually be paying money back to UK government.

Cwm Dyli is the UK's oldest working power station, 121 years of renewable energy in north Wales :)

Still need to pinch myself that the ffycin Tour de France is coming to Wales.

Thinking of getting some winter cycling shoes cos my time is limited and I can't be arsed spending five minutes mucking about with overshoes. Any recommendations for ones that let your toes spread? I like bont shoes nowadays but they dont do em.

Platty Joobs and Statey Funes were seemingly both drawn up by chronically online millennials who specifically wanted to annoy Telegraph readers

While The Telegraph has deemed 'picky bits' "the most revolting phrase in the English language", more Britons have a positive view of the term (43%) than a negative one (25%), with 31% neutral yougov.com/en-gb/articl...

Just another excuse for me to bang on about how the previous Welsh Government should have consented some of those onshore wind farms that were refused on visual grounds

Data centre developers may build 'climate-wrecking' gas power plant next door www.bbc.com/news/article...

Not wishing to call out Lee in particular on this (as he calls out Lee in particular on this) but this view is not unusual: there is huge complacency out there in Wales on renewables. Most of the power generated in Wales comes from gas. We haven't completed a new wind farm in six years.

Nice to hear someone say it. We still have the same issues with water and renewables. We pay the highest water charges in UK and yet we provide water to England who pay less for it. Same with electricity, England are still extracting Wales resources and still leaving us poorer.

Stan Brittain, who rode the 1958 Tour (finished 66th on GC) and is president of the Liverpool Phoenix is, I believe still with us aged 95? Olympic silver medalist, two stages and two GC podiums of the peace race, also rode the 1960 and 61 Tours but didn't finish either.

The other end of this, is that millenials who have grown up as happy clappy evangelicals (hi!) have mostly got to the point where we believe names are what you want them to be and you can change them at any time if you prefer :)

Sometimes working in renewable communications feels like the tragic Trojan figure of Cassandra. We can decarbonise 90% of the energy sector with current technology and make a huge contribution to preventing climate change. And yet...

@friebos.bsky.social cricket definitely spends as much time as cycling, if not more, fretting about what it should be. They've gone from four day test cricket, to one day, to 20-20, to 100 balls. The main problem has always been the Faustian pact of pay to view TV.

Does anyone else get the thing where you exhibit at a conference, and when you're bored you give our email to another exhibitor, and now they're trying to sell you something you know nothing about, apart from you'll never need it?

You know that feeling where you book accommodation and then get a followup email from the "real" provider and your heart just sinks? Currently on hold to Sykes Cottages after they decided to try and increase the price of the booking after I paid for it.

BBC to reduce number of programmes on Radio 4 and just ask presenters to speak 30% slower

Nick Hilton@nickfthilton.bsky.social

I hate this so much. The BBC should be providing good quality, good value programmes that the private market won't cover. You and Yours (which I kind of hate), Thinking Allowed and Free Thinking are exactly the sort of programming that the BBC is i) good at, ii) not haemorrhaging money to make.

What happened to NCP was an unshakable business based on stacks of concrete and basically no staff was sold from owner to owner, each taking a slice and repackaging the cake, until the box blew away in the wind. More deals generally means more debt, which becomes an ongoing cost to the business.

This isn’t AI. My cousin Braycen was torn apart by Havana syndrome which is why he’s in his coffin in “chunks”. The ugly “boy” in the (real) photo isn’t his son; it’s a full grown small intruder man who ran off with the head & ate it behind the funeral home. RT to salute 🫡 🇺🇸

Nobody ever wants to have *less* input into a major project, or *less* info at consultation, for example.

Jonathan Jones@sirjjkc.bsky.social

It turns out that much “red tape” is not imposed by bureaucrats or lawyers but the result of conscious political choices which can only be reversed at a political and practical cost
