My debut novella, THE SAINTS WE MAKE, is out today from Neon Hemlock Press! A young girl becomes a knight, fights an evil empire, falls in love (maybe a couple of times?), and finds hope for the future in and beyond her revolution.

Yes yes yes it would be very cool if you preordered my novella (which comes out on 10/27) But you would really be the realest if you suggested it for purchase at your local library

It links two moments together at the start & end of the narrative, AND acts as an homage to James Baldwin, one of my favorite writers (who uses "whatever" that way frequently in his prose)

LLMs don't have choice and intention. If you ask why one made a specific word choice it'll generate an answer, but the answer will be statistically likely bullshit. The real answer is that the bot's training data suggested that was a likely word choice for the scenario

It really does make me so sad that a legitimately cool, powerful, fascinating price of new technology has been completely poisoned and made into garbage by money hungry tech ceos.

Ghostly Bree@mostlybree.kitrocha.com

I would not be this mad if they hadn't hijacked the vast potential of an entire branch of technology so they could manufacture fake money based on chatbots that give you delusions and let scammers break the backbone of the internet while everyone gets fired & nothing works anymore.

Josie Kallo
@josiewrites.bsky.social

Like imagine how cool this technology would be if humanity has worked together to create it in a way that respected creativity and thought about it's actual applications instead of just pursuing scale and profit at any cost

AHHH this is so cool!!! I'm so glad PW loved the book and I hope everyone else does too!!

"This stuns." —Publishers Weekly (starred review) So pleased that PW loves this book as much as we do! Pre-orders still open for THE SAINTS WE MAKE by @josiewrites.bsky.social, coming out next week!

Weirdly I'm kinda hoping these supposedly ultra powerful ais break containment and completely destroy the Internet. I know that'd suck in the short term but I think we need a fresh start on this world wide web business

My novella The Saints We Make comes out Oct 27! A generation ago, the Saints and their followers drove off the Empire. But the Empire has returned, and now a young girl must learn to wield the Saints' magic to defeat them once and for all. A story of sapphic paladins fighting fascists. Fun!! ⚔️🔥

everyone wants to tell artists what to do and i wish we could shift to telling audiences what to do sometimes. if you liked webcomics that were on tapas, follow somewhere else. learn to use RSS. don't let the seamlessness of apps turn your brain into soup. you can change your habits

Showing it to Emily, who never followed the discourse surrounding the show, is so crazy btw. I’ll go ah! this is the one that made people call Pearl a rapist, this is the one that made people call Rebecca Sugar a pedophile! and it’ll be an episode titled “you should be nice to your friends”

Sarah Z@sarahz.bsky.social

Steven Universe honestly whipped as a show. it’s so funny how mad so many people got specifically because it was baby’s first toxic yuri and people would be like wtf… why are all these lesbians being so toxic to each other… they were doing such insane shit to each other it ruled

IT ALSO MEANS that if someone were to back at the $2500 patron level, they would effectively be supporting TWO NOVELETTES and/or CHAPBOOKS and that would be wild.
