There is much to admire in Abdul El-Sayed's response to the GOP plant in his audience. But one of the most deft things he did was to point out (twice) that our Constitution protects our right to follow *no* religion, thereby casting Christian nationalist Tommy as the actual religious extremist.
If you’re advising POTUS to declare martial law, or use other executive powers in an attempt to interfere with a lawful election that you’re expecting to lose, you’re a piece of shit human and an even worse American.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, gun reform, universal child care, and a living wage.
And we certainly wouldn't have public executions.
The right-wing agenda isn’t about “life.”
It's about cruelty.
Fuck Tony Hinchcliff, Matt Rife, Shane Gillis, Rob Schneider, Joe Rogan, Greg Gutfeld and every other MAGA joke-thief “comedian” whose social media numbers have been inflated this whole time by Russian bot farms. And fuck this world for not caring even a little.
John Steinbeck is not my favorite author. His books are not my favorite books. However, his writing is exquisitely 1930s-40s. They are about the economics of the times, & he writes about the human condition. He writes about people he knew, & the misery they lived in.
5 Steinbeck books are banned.
Cost of extending ACA subsidies: $30 billion/year
Cost of Trump's Iran War: $43 billion in roughly seven months (and that's a low estimate)
It's not a question of what we can afford. It's a question of priorities.
Idea: no corporate welfare, subsidies, or government contracts for corporations whose employees need to rely on government assistance because of low wages.
The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.
The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.
Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.
Big Tech buys off Congress. No action on AI safety.
The list goes on and on.
Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.
