Will books survive this modern era? They survive all eras. People will write in ink made from soot and paper made from skin. If books aren't around, we're not around! The obituaries they write are their own.

My newest r̶a̶n̶t̶ article about this theory I have and why we're (maybe) on the precipice of a new golden age of #sciFi #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #Authors #WriteSky 🚀

Man removes parasite, starts revolution. #BookSky

Folks on the other socials loved this video about artificial gravity so I figured I’d share this here: #WritingCommunity #scifi 🚀 #WriteSky #ArtificialGravity

AI spam bots got hold of my old manuscript, I’ve got an endless stream of “agents” telling me why my story is great. And sure, they’re trying to rob me blind, but also… it’s kinda nice? A break from shouting into the void with a regular subscription of vapid praise delivered to my inbox.📨 #WriteSky

Whenever possible, more and more, I work to cultivate boredom, to hold onto it for as long as I can.

Bioware forever.

I know a chapter isn’t working, it’s a character’s introduction, but it’s way too much worldbuilding info-dump. A chapter I rewrote just a few weeks ago. I think this means I’m still too close to it and it needs time to simmer~ #amEditing #WriteSky ✍️

Hey 👋 so I’m trying a thing. I’m taking all the sci-fi rants and hot-takes I subject my friends to, and now I’m subjecting my followers to them as well! #scifi #BookSky 🚀

Remember. Even in Star Trek, they had to go through world war three before they became an enlightened federation

One half: outlining a new Substack article The other half: my one drawing for all of inktober (in progress)

Several times a week I get spam emails from “agents” and “publishers” asking about my manuscript. They share specific details, insights on themes, all offering “representation”. It’s all AI fueled attacks targeting authors. Be careful! Agents will not reach out to you unprompted! #Scams #WriteSky ✍️

Send it to Kirkus and let them know the star is expected and “strongly advised”

Just finishing up book five and it’s by far my favorite in the series so far. I will probably be starved for DCC content once I finish the series

No matter how pleased I am with the first draft, it’s always in the edit, with the help of critique partners and beta readers, that the manuscript becomes smarter than I am #WriteSky #amEditing

I'm looking to make art! Anyone need a pretty cover for one of your upcoming books/Anthologies/chapbooks/etc? I love working with indie authors and also with presses. Here are a few Science Fiction examples I've worked up recently. Either DM me here or contact me through addi.studio And please RT!

Well it happened again, I sat down to do some editing and ended up just reading three chapters of my book. #amWriting? #WriteSky

My hobby is contriving the most grotesque grammatical situations I can on the page, but only ones that are accurate under specific circumstances. 📝 I want to read an editor’s track changes, “while technically correct…” The equivalent of a tipped hat from an industry expert. #amWriting #amEditing ✍️

I beta read an early draft of this novel and it was amazing and a wild ride and you will love it! #amReading #BookSky #BookTok 🪐📚

No matter what I do, my chapters keep coming out between 3500 and 4000 words like I’ve internalized exactly how large and long a scene is supposed to be. #amWriting #WriteSky

I forgot to post my hot take to the land of hot takes! Enjoy my Substack about the somewhat rocky evolution of the science fiction genre: 1500 words #SciFi 🪐📚

Spent three hours writing at the library and isn’t that one of the most productive spaces you can be in? I really need to spend more time here instead of the coffee shop ☕️, it actually makes such a difference. #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #amWriting ✍️

just saw a guy walking in the rain with an umbrella. and i’m just like, come on man. that’s cheating. don’t be a dick

Another @milanote.bsky.social board, as I zero in on final structural edits to my space opera manuscript, I always have a fresh editing board: Chapter summaries, outlines for each character arc, lots of to-do lists and new chapter outlines! #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #amEditing #Plotter🚀

Look at this cover, y’all 👀 You can FEEL the cyberpunk, the weird, and the cosmic horror wrapped up into one~ #LitMag #ShortStory #WriteSky #WritingCommunity 🚀

Currently walking through a nor’easter in DC and actually it’s quite lovely. Refreshing ascending from the metro out into the light rain. 🌧️ #DMV #DC

Such an interesting exercise. Evil for evil’s sake has been done. Try this! #amWriting

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.

For every hot take on how literature is ruined now, in whatever direction you’re angling for, there are enough examples to build a compelling argument for your video essay, because there is simply a whole hell of a lot more literature out there, and it is our responsibility to find what we desire.💙📚

It’s the middle of September and they’re playing Christmas music at the cafe. Is this normal??

Tell me why the last several novels I’ve read have moved quickly and with purpose up to 30%, wandered aimlessly for several hundred pages, and then brought the plot back in at the 80% mark for a star finish? Is this the new normal 😑 ? #amReading #BookSky 💙📚
