Trying to imagine being admitted to the hospital on the brink of death and then finding myself shunted aside for nearly two weeks because there's a law saying people like me must be segregated away before we can receive treatment.

She was murdered by transphobia 😥😥😥

For many Spurs seasons a desperate draw away at Old Trafford was comfortably beyond us. Now, it’s somehow a pathetic result for both teams. Awesome ending though. So used to seeing that result occur from ahead rather than behind. COYS

EdStone 2: This time the idea is just as bad but we can make it 30 meters long cheaply because we used AI art’?

Actual lol. VAR has nothing on this. (It also won't happen) (As a Spurs fan, this would be such a depressing way to 'win' a title) (actually it would be fun to see that team back together for a testimonial. 11 of that 16/17 team are still playing.)

The incredible thing about this blog post for me is the idea that ***only*** 48% of Wrangler usage was performed by agents last week - just from my personal bias about the prevalence of agents. The way they check is linked below. The 48% is a floor. Real number > 50%, right?

First AI film I'm commissioning for myself: a Honest Dick Tate biopic. My self-insert is a cabin companion on the steamer to Shanghai.

Jev thought: after playing with Jev and Laya, I suspect a general classifier’s job is often to make itself unnecessary: bootstrap a dataset, train a tiny specialist, then keep the general model for drift detection and evals.

The Yudkowski school assumed as axioms that alignment is nearly impossible and that the singularity is inevitable and as a result completely ignored all the practical problems that have actually arisen.

Apple events are great shows but the expanded universe of to-the-death battles over exactly what ‘2 more hours of battery’ or ‘80% faster’ really means are not.

Dystopia: I'm 83. My happy place is reliving old Slack conversations from 50 yrs ago with LLMs set up to reply like the people I used to work with. My agent found me sighing over an old data export 15 yrs back and filed it under 'when the dementia hits' I'm very little trouble. My family are happy.

We beat the leader in harness bench. No big deal. its a big fucking deal lmao.

Doll@dollspace.gay

This is the Peritus harness.

And when I say this, for the no-one who is listening, I mean go there and buy meat from the local butcher, not ‘all-expenses-paid-safari’. It’ll take you from ‘Toto: Africa’ tourism to ‘Pulp: Common People’ tourism. That’s the best I can do, sorry.

J-P Treen@jptreen.com

It really was, sorry. I heard Camus and I spiralled! The world is wide, there are many places left to run off to. For anyone casting about, I suggest Meru in Kenya.

I do appreciate that this stuff exists now, but there’s a hole in the toy shop where Sylvanian Families woodwork shops and schleich black unicorns might be. (Speaking as the only boy in my class ~35 years ago who liked Care Bears instead of whatever boys were supposed to like, I forget)

Bring it the fuck back. We need to stop letting fucking troglodytes who have literally 0 understanding of what they mean when they say "AI" have control over tech.

Alright everyone, message received. I was not expecting this response, I honestly had no idea before I made the post Like I said, the code is experimental. A proof of concept showing that PDN-on-WINE is possible. It's not finished. I can literally just delete it. It won't be part of the next build.

My ‘90’s/00’s world was split between ‘call me when you get home!’ people and ‘see you soon!’ people. The first group never understood why people (including me) would worry them so much by not calling as it was a ‘common courtesy’. I wonder if that was ever polled at the time?

Tim Bale@timbale.bsky.social

Can this really be true? "67 per cent of parents in the UK track the location of their university-age children, according to a survey by Unite Students." (Source: inews.co.uk/inews-lifest...)

(I once said ‘if I die on the way home you’ll find out eventually, you know!’ which apparently didn’t do anything for their nerves.)

In the age of agents, Linux distros are the new Domain Specific Languages?

Cameron@cameron.stream

It comes for all of us, some time or another

OK, get it together guys. Speaking as a Spurs fan, this is at least 2 managers too early to be talking about relegation.

We used to have this argument in 3D printers. Someone would show up and say you can't build a machine with more accuracy and durability than the one that printed it. I'm sorry, I didn't realize we invented computers before the abacus. Fancy beads can't be numbers ffs. Stupid of me. I am so dumb.

conputer dipshit@davidcrespo.bsky.social

I have often said people are essentially arguing that engineering is impossible when they say there’s no way to build a reliable system out of unreliable parts. it‘s the most ordinary thing in the world

"We do these things not because they are easy, but because we thought they were going to be easy"

My grandmother found people saying 'UK' weird, her introduction to it was as a young army officer's wife based abroad in the '50's. She'd never heard it before and she told me (around maybe 2005?) that people had only really started using it in the '70's. (Google Books thinks she was ~8 years late)

Stephen Bush@stephenkb.bsky.social

Think the discourse on “lanyardian” is missing the far crazier part of this, which is that it’s a conversation between two people who now believe that saying “UK” is a weird, Starmer-like affectation. Margaret Thatcher used it, because it is literally the name of our country!

Genuinely can't believe we're supposed to have a debate about whether DEI has reduced the quality of academic output whilst you have some of the critics writing entire papers on why women evolved to use a Dyson?

It's the small things. NVIDIA like to focus on hardware that makes the cost of electricity a rounding error in the total cost of ownership, making life much simpler for everyone with $100k in change hiding in their sofa. (I roughly costed £7.5k over three years to run this at 50% capacity)

I want 4x of these so bad. But instead, I'll probably end up with 10x RTX PRO / Instinct PCIe cards running Qwen 27B instead. It's a whole lot more affordable.

Maybe humanoid robots need the equivalent of a sports car’s 0 to 100 to 0 benchmark: accelerate, reach peak speed, and come to a controlled stop.

I don't understand why someone would turn emergency phone alerts off because they got an alert they where underwhelmed by.
