I know David from early 90s from music email lists, and I’ve always loosely kept an eye on him and exchanged the occasional word. Never been to NY so have no emotional attachment to these views, but I do like urban/industrial photography so they look pretty good to me. Congrats @dmandl.bsky.social

seeing @dmandl.bsky.social's nyc from elevated subway windows makes me see the city in a new way. really cool chaotic vistas & compositions of infrastructure, zoning, localized ingenuity, & what's left of nature. roman-nvmerals.myshopify.com/products/vol...

Go-go time!

Arguably the greatest track to feature the guy who played Lovejoy who was having fish and chips with his wife when Trevor Horn approached him asking "I need a voice, and Orson Welles is dead". Welles in fact died 11 days after the US single release

Other than the problem of broadcast landscape being totally different, no channel has a majority audience: the return of the public information film, in all its gore and horror, is long overdue. “Nanny state!” you cry, but it’s proven we can’t rely on people having common sense. We never could…

It's never not a great time to share this for those who've never seen it. 70s Public Information Film. One of a series which were broadcast between kids TV programmes, scarred an entire generation.

It’s taken me a while to get around to listening to all the episodes of Duncan Stuck In The 80s. The weekend one I’ve yet to get to but I’ve very much enjoyed them to now, love a classic jingle re-sing, and I think I’ll revisit his jingle compilations next, all done with flair and humour.

NEW Stuck in the 80s (the only radio which broadcasts from the 1980s). Expect Kylie, a steamroller and the travel news. Click the link to listen free. It took an age to produce so the least you can do is listen… on.soundcloud.com/PPbQHWCdoGJK...

Oh yes this’ll liven up @radiofreeskaro.bsky.social ‘s (anti)Eurovision chat next year :)

🇨🇦 We are delighted to announce that CBC/Radio-Canada has become a full Member of the European Broadcasting Union, following a vote earlier today at our 96th General Assembly in Prague. ℹ️ Read more: www.ebu.ch/news/2026/06...

And neither was I at first, but then I grew to love it. Meanwhile, “Amadeus” was also a favourite of school friend Bob, he loaned me Falco 3 on cassette, which carried a bonus alt mix of “Vienna Calling”. Maybe I will visit VC for a mix one day. 4/

This “Rock Me Amadeus” edit is the second of my triumvirate of Big 80s 12” Hits. The first was my take on FGTH’s “Two Tribes” (always note the cowbell), and the third is yet to be started but I kn-kn-kn-kn-kn-know what it is … /ends

This was the first 12” I bought, around March 1986, in Woolworths in Nelson. Still have it. The song’s a bit older, it was really from the previous year and I think this was another push to make it a hit in the UK 2/

I loved the UK follow-up “Vienna Calling” too, the mix of classical and rock pop appealed to me then and has always stayed with me since. Later Falco’s comeback after the Falco 3 album was with the single “The Sound Of Music”. I remember Robin Ross on Red Rose Radio not being that keen on it … 3/

THIS WEEK ON THE RECORD STORE DAY PODCAST, legendary UK producer ADRIAN SHERWOOD reflects on The Collapse of Everything, and his collaborators like Brian Eno, and dear departed cohorts such as Keith LeBlanc, Mark Stewart, and Lee “Scratch” Perry. Wherever you get your podcasts or: bit.ly/RSDPODCAST

This was well worth the listen, Adrian has done many interviews covering the early days, sometimes mentioning the Fall in passing, so this is a great deep-dive into that particular era.

This week, on Oh! Brother, we were delighted to welcome producer and On‑U Sound founder Adrian Sherwood. Adrian talks us through first meeting Mark E. Smith, working with The Fall on Slates and Extricate, and the studio tricks (and “anti‑production” ethos) that shaped those records. (+)

I like songs with unusual structures. SSS is basically just a collection of short solos interspersed by (Krupa) drum solos. Genius. A couple times a year I will search YouTube for cover versions and some aren’t bad. 🧵/ends

Wrongtom’s deep dives are always fascinating and forensic. I’d never noticed the connection from Sleng Teng to one of RSW’s finest moments. Mighty work.
