Arguably the greatest S&M themed electrofunk record by the son of the Pentagon's head of communications for the Vietnam war, and produced in Germany with Peter Baumann from Tangerine Dream, and then finished at Unique Studios in NYC where Arthur Baker overheard them and signed it on the spot

This guy went from being the leader of the lowest gang in the food chain in late 70s South Bronx to turning his life around and working on Wall Street in the mid 80s

Name two characters you think are the same person.

Meanwhile this guy went from leading one of the toughest gangs in late 80s NYC to robbing teenage girls in the valley in mid 90s LA

Shed is probably selling it a bit short. It was in the outhouse behind Eddy Grant’s house where a lot of magic happened in the 1970s

Pretty sure it was Star Wars at Studio 7 in Kingston in May '78 (it came out just before New Years '77 in the UK and remained in cinemas well into the following summer). It's just a residual memory, and my mum said she spent much of the film in the lobby with me crying.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

The first I remember seeing was Watership Down later that year, in case you're wondering why I've made such a mess of my life

I've been commissioned to write an anniversary piece which I've had on the back burner for a few years now, and I'm very excited. Any guesses?

It's not about Milton Glaser's work for Dick Gregory, in case you were obviously wondering, but I do love these album covers

An honour to be a guest of @themountaingoats.bsky.social this evening, who not only played a stunning set, but they did it in a venue which a) is conveniently a short bus ride from the end of my street, and b) was where I used to take my daughter every Monday for a huge soft play extravaganza

Found some old pics from Hackney Church almost half a decade ago. It was really strange seeing it packed with grownups and no bouncy castles

Arguably the best post-Britpop hip hop single produced by the guy behind the Dr Octagon LP, and based entirely around a sample of a track by uk jazz royalty Johnny Dankworth for the soundtrack of an adaptation of a comic inspired by a girl the writer encountered while posted in Persia during WWII

I had to remove a section about Rudolf Nureyev from my Andrea True piece earlier this year, for space reasons. In short, Nureyev’s lover Wallace Potts directed the porn film which the original instrumental of More More More was written for. Fact fans

He died on the same day as Rudolf Nureyev and Private Eye noted they were both famed for their cheeks.

If you thought "Christ on a bike!" was not anachronistic enough.

According to Koo Stark, while filming Star Wars in Tunisia, the radio controlled R2D2 malfunctioned, disappeared behind a sand dune and trundled onto the set of Jesus Of Nazareth

The gospel according to Luke. No, not that Luke.
