It is done. I am now self-hosting my audiobook library using Audiobookshelf, and using the iOS app Prologue (specifically their beta, which supports ABS), and buying books from Libro.fm, XigXag, direct from publishers and local libraries. Bye Audible 👋

Does anyone have a preferred solution for playing DRM-free audiobooks on iOS? I like BookPlayer, but I have too many books to store on my phone and only want to download on demand.. I’m also a @libro.fm user but can’t access my existing library in their player

if I still blogged I would blog about this. instead, I will continue the infinite loop of redesigning my website every time I think about posting something

My buddy Zelda has very strong opinions on this stuff. A reminder that her dad left explicit instructions that he did NOT want corporations to be able to do this to him and that means us too. The bare minimum here is to respect the wishes of those who said NO.

Work team deployed a total infrastructure overhaul to production this morning (EC2 -> ECS) after months of planning. This has been on my bucket list for years and the migration couldn't have gone smoother. And now I might sleep better 😴

Had a rough few months health-wise and the last 3 GPs I've spoken too have all asked "What do YOU think is causing the pain?" and I'm starting to think I'm living in a Black Mirror episode

Me using the name `context` to refer to the new `scope` feature in Phoenix 1.8, and completely ignoring the existing Contexts nomenclature: 😈😈😈 #ElixirLang

me: hmm, where should I put this code rails: the model me: it's not really model related, maybe a service class? rails: the model me: im trying to maintain a good separation of conc rails: MODEL

I love the *idea* of the Ash Elixir framework, but boy does it feel like you're just learning a whole new language again. Maybe it'll just click at some point. Feels like you're truly at the whim of the Ash folks for every piece of the project though (because they have thought of everything)

MRI results back with a delightful closing statement from the physio: you have the back of a 60-year old who's done hard labour cool 👍

It's been a bit of a side-project, but I deployed an Elixir Phoenix LiveView application into our work AWS prod cloud this week and it's been such a blast. Seeing our production data through this new lens has really opened up possibilities.
