Juli in MN

Went out canvassing yesterday for our DFL candidates. Had a lot of good conversations, and stressed the importance of voting for Keith Ellison.

I'm attending Keith Ellison for Attorney General's event, “Door Knock with Team Keith & Friends! - Eastside St. Paul” - sign up now to joi www.mobilize.us/keithellison... Keith has been a champion for MN on all kinds of issues, and we need to keep him in office!!

Heri Madagascar is crowdfunding a loan on Kiva — Let's get them to 25% today! This is a megaloan, which will help thousands of people. Here's an article from Scientific American about the importance of solar power. www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-... www.kiva.org/invitedby/ju...

I read this really interesting look at how rivers function in the legendarium.

Caucused last night. It was 15 degrees. They finally just let everyone in and had us register in the rooms, because the lines were so long it would have taken over an hour to register people at the door.

Update from yesterday’s sit-in!

I’m with other Minnesota clergy staging a sit-in. Target must 1) demand ICE out of Minnesota; 2) refuse to allow ICE stage in their parking lots; 3) demand that Congress defund ICE; 4) demand that Jonathan Ross be prosecuted.

Snake Eater, by @tkingfisher.com, got a positive review in today’s Wall Street Journal. So that’s one bright spot.

I’m participating in this boycott. It’s important to show big corporations that there are consequences for undermining democracy and rule of law. Get more info here: weaintbuyingit.com?utm_source=i...

@trishlambert.bsky.social Happy Birthday!! Love living vicariously through your adventures! Here’s to many more!

Hey!! @support.bsky.team! What on earth is going on? Why is @sarahkendzior.bsky.social suspended? Why haven't you responded to her questions? This is NOT a good look. Everyone who doesn't already subscribe to Sarah Kendzior on substack should remedy that right now: substack.com/@sarahkendzior

Olusheno is crowdfunding a loan on Kiva. They have an excellent repayment history. In addition, this kind of investment in Africa is an important step in bringing renewable energy to everyone. www.kiva.org/invitedby/ju... This article from The Economist gives some context. archive.li/2AHpU

I was number 100 this morning. We had city council and school board on the ballot.

I participated in a “Health Care Nightmare” press conference yesterday. Allina is closing clinics, which was the presenting issue, but we also called out the increasing costs as one of our largest insurers has pulled out of the state exchange, the GOP is abolishing subsides.

Had a great time catching up with @jm-soccer.bsky.social today! It’s been way too long. Also, he showed me this truly epic historical marker.

It’s time.

I dont usually share Kiva loans, but this one is different. Albedo Solar is trying to raise another $125K, which is a lot more than usual. Please read their story and consider chipping in.

Go put this on your to-be-read list now! It’s ok if you have to read the prequel first. You have time.

These are beautiful. I love how they break expectations while being recognizable. Kind of like Jay Johnstone, but in a totally different direction.

This is absolutely my favorite St Anthony tradition! The graduating seniors put on their caps and gowns and go process through the elementary school and all the little kids line the halls and cheer and clap. The big kids all roll their eyes and say it’s cringe, but they are beaming when it’s done.

I just came back from my local Indian store with 40 pounds of rice, about the same in assorted dry legumes, and spices and spice mixes in the largest sizes I could find. I’ll be going to other ethnic stores over the next weeks. I may be overreacting, but I will feed my kids.

This is utterly wild! www.facebook.com/share/v/1Bov...

I just got a call from my parents. They were watching Wolf Hall on PBS. At some point they looked at each other and said, “If only Juli were here, she could tell us what’s going on.” My life choices are vindicated.

Had the opportunity to enjoy @thetraecrowder.bsky.social‘s comedy last night. Hilarious and topical. Also, as someone raised in Alabama and living in Minnesota, I could relate to his stories! Highly recommended!!!!

Went to the We Make Minnesota rally at the Capitol today. Rotunda was packed. It was encouraging!

Went out and saw @reynoldsgareth.bsky.social and @lukehsimmons.bsky.social tonight! Had a blast! These guys are both really funny and also warm and friendly. Gareth promised to tell Pam I love her.
