This is something we get accused of surprisingly often and all I can say is: yes. Good. I am here to destroy the hopes and dreams of husbands who don't think they have to add value to their wife's life.

"For married women, it gives unrealistic expectations of sex, often leading to disappointment in our marriages...For unmarried women, these books will do nothing but give you unrealistic expectations for when you do get married."

Pfff, sounds like a skill issue on the part of the husbands to me.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

#Booksky Spooktacular 2026 Day 26: Southern Gothic horror the way only @tkingfisher.com can do it? That’s what’s on the menu in A House with Good Bones. Also insects, vultures, and teeth! Kingfisher has that tricky skill of making you laugh and creeping you out in quick succession, which I love.

Stepped out of the restaurant with two friends, and a woman yells at us. HER: Hey! What band are you in? US: Eh? HER: What’s the name of your band? KEVIN: We’re not in a band? HER: You’re not? ME: We’re just weirdos. And then she began singing “Creep” at us.

It's so much fun sharing our adoration of @tkingfisher.com with her fans. Yeah we sell her books, but we voraciously READ her books too. She spans so many genres from YA to Fantasy to Horror to Romance. One of the reasons we love selling her books is because there is something for everyone.

We all need to make a pact that we're just going to log off. Just get tf offline until the adrenaline high fades as otherwise we won't be fedposting, we'll be fedbaiting, possibly fedfluffing or even fededging. Fedging.

I do wonder how the mods are going to handle the volume of celebration if It Happens before his term is up

I always do the big important medical ones, so this time I’m just gonna say—long distance calls are free now.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Huh. I knew they had tiny brains, but TIL that giant anteaters have one of the lowest body temperatures of any mammal, at a cool 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Neat! They are also adorable, but despite being friend-shaped, DO NOT HUG.

Cozy Horror is great for two reasons: fans enjoy it, and the haters want art to make them unhappy, so they get what they want, too.

Beechdrops are a fully parasitic plant that does not photosynthesize and cannot exist without its host, the American beech tree -- populations of which are becoming rapidly decimated by the introduced pathogen, beech leaf disease. Beechdrops cause little to no harm to their host. #nativeplants 🌿

There is a doofus currently arguing here that no "creative talent" would choose to write tie-ins, and since I just did a panel this weekend on why creative talents choose to write IP, here are a few reasons. Non-financial reasons, for fun and because frankly it usually doesn't pay that well.

Generally it's not good for the person in charge of one of the world's two largest nuclear arsenals to have such a thin grasp on reality but in this case him believing the status quo (US keeps its existing military base on Greenland, maybe more) is a new change is in fact fine.

There are ways around this. They involve trusts. Get your aging parents to talk to a lawyer to keep their assets protected.

if millennials could afford homes this wouldnt be a problem but this is going to hit the generation like a truck

Also, from a library worker, those checkouts help us keep our funding. So checking stuff out is one of the easiest ways to help us out!

Co-signed! That’s what libraries are for, and they do pay us! Never apologize!

Tom Cox@dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social

Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.
