I never knew that in the United States literally the president can do anything as long as everybody agrees not to stop them. Very weird, realizing the entire thing was made of cotton candy

What incentive does any person in Iran have to unconditionally surrender No but for real, after Iraq, after Vietnam, after Afghanistan, what is the model we're presenting Iran with? Aside from the handful of deranged monarchists, but even them, what is the plan Does war as meme convince anyone??

And I'd say, sure, the state has squandered much of its power on control and surveillance and moralistic abuse, but at this point, any power hoping to wield force in the future must necessarily continue fighting until the last breath Nobody thinks they'd get treated remotely like Japan or Germany

I mean even the Mongols were clear about the expectations of surrender versus conquest, which i think is just another example of how i give Ol' Temujin big props over the dumpy stupid Yanks You should at least be as coherent as a thirteenth century warlord, folks. I'm not asking for much

America plays so much at war abroad while claiming to be under "invasion" by unarmed people entering the country to live and work that it sometimes slips our notice that one responsibility of all states and any states is to prevent armed conquest Not all states succeed at this, sure

Any lib making claims about how, you know, maybe we *ought* to be hitting bad guys and authoritarians and then in that very same liberal Wilsonian call to arms saying *nothing* about Israel or KSA is very suspect!

"How can these deranged online leftists blame the Democrats for Trump's war" Blame, no, but practice a little empathy and ask why anyone is having a negative reaction to arguments like "Trump and Bibi bad, but Khamenei had to go" Why make an argument about liberal internationalism at this moment?

Can you imagine being a liberal who sees a girls' school blown up and feels that what the world must hear is that, actually, the Islamic republic of Iran is bad

Wil Wheaton did the scene from Mad Men when he told the Hershey's guys he grew up in a brothel, only for real, and it wasn't the shiny wrapper that made him briefly escape his terrible life, but it was the guy from Curb attacking Elmo that brought him back to his father beating him

And again, I'd normally say, okay, keep sharing, except the statute of limitations for not going to therapy has passed and now i don't trust his emotional barometer on anything

You don't have to listen to Wil Wheaton The man told us all about his child abuse because Larry David choked a Muppet I normally am in support of spontaneous awkward sharing of trauma but you don't need to listen to Wil Wheaton

I saw a picture of a father holding a baby in Gaza in 2023 and I wonder if they're dead That could be me I see a picture of a boy with a bunny hat, wrapped up in a coat someone who loves him put on him and I wonder what his cell looks like That could be my son This is evil For, or against

bro there’s a gofundme to crowdfund attorney fees for a preschooler who was kidnapped by our federal government and shipped across state lines and his senator is posting about high school hockey while every other elected official is debating whether to give a zillion more dollars to the kidnappers

For, or against, civilization Men like this will not stop until they are stopped. This has nothing to do with training, or affordability. Men like this cannot be given jobs that sate their appetite for violence. People can grow and deradicalize but first they must be disarmed This will be hard.

Every Stephen Miller tantrum and DHS recruitment ad speaks in these existential terms about "defending your culture" to elide the fact that they need people with the courage to wear a mask while interrogating a sixth grader

There are many tactical goals and strategic goals and i think we need to think local and specific And we need a vision beyond returning to an idealized 2015 The disparate issues must be woven into a comprehensive governing ideology, more specific than liberalism or socialism

And it will include a policy of force, and a policy of governing monied interests, without tiptoeing around fundamental questions of health care access and policing and military action as liberalism has since Lyndon Johnson

We must break the back of certain industries and we must send some policemen to jail and we must destroy the corrections industry entirely and if we have illusions about the fight that requires then we will get worse results than nothing

I have had many many conversations with friends in the community and in the field and like obviously the impact on human lives is the biggest thing here but we're witnessing the erasure of what little knowledge we have, knowledge we may never regain, in this generation or in this country

Scientific research of gender transition has been stuck on "should these people be allowed to transition" for 50 years, so we don't know shit about how transitioning actually works.

An acquaintance is in archeology. Do you have any idea how white supremacy and anti DEI madness has impacted fields of literally cataloging dead people and their personal effects, tools, and structures? Do you have any idea how hard it is to plan your career around whether your funding will be cut?

Let me walk that back: that was *already* the reality, because again, our research infrastructure was not exactly robust before There are tons of gaps and budgeting issues But now it may be on a lark for overtly supremacist and genocidal aims It will take decades to recover if we ever do.

I mean literally, there are many many methods to protect the confidentiality of research subjects but if you're part of a persecuted minority, are you going to put your job or your life or your kids at potential risk? Do you know how hard it is to get research participants? Most normies fn don't

I am far from thick in the field here, so i know tons of people can speak to this chilling effect more thoroughly, but I feel like even from my vantage point, far from academia, I mourn the active brain drain and knowledge destruction in power today It will affect all of our lives, yes yours too

Just not being able to get funding for a fucking student study on x, y, or z topic may seem like no big deal but it is But we have a government set on eradicating trans people from the earth but literally any good research regarding human beings is going to account for trans people!!

And you are talking years upon years of lost knowledge, educations and careers spent avoiding this chilling effect, money that will need to be shifted back if we ever fix this politically Are research subjects going to be willing to trust us with their gender identity? Would you?

I hate to use a clumsy word but normies don't know the value good research can have on human lives. They see medications and they don't appreciate the human variety that repeated trials can capture or, when you assume white cis bros are the default, the nuance you miss

But this also impacts education, approaches to mental health care, reducing crime recidivism by actually treating humans, studying substance abuse relapse We're still living in an epidemic of suicide deaths, and you may not consciously be aware of its impact but trust me, you know someone affected

So between socdems and communists who do you think got better accommodations in the camps

Do you believe in special blood that makes some people different and somehow alien to constitutional rule I know, I know, history, I get it, I understand multicultural pluralism you doofus Do some people not deserve civil rights yes or no

Anybody who believes in magic blood or bloodlines, and that the powerful can rape the rest of us for sport, is against civilization

Anybody who believes that semi rational frameworks of justice, equal citizenship, ways to tax trade, and whether it is okay to take a human life and when, if it ever is, that's the people fighting for civilization

I think anybody who's ever read a fucking book is aware that the Euro American "who is better who is worse contest" is pretty clear, lol, take a look in the mirror, that's the conclusion

It is also of a piece with the great "Christianity is a modern religion unlike Izzlom" argument that everybody from Rousseau to the worst atheists you know have grappled with Lol if you can't appreciate what has been the power differential between largely Muslim societies and the west, you're lazy

"O but wut about the slave trade" I literally don't care I don't think Arab participation in the African slave trade has any bearing on what you're doing to Palestinian children, or what Italy did to Libya It's like you're arguing about morality on Mars It's stupid

It is so fucking apparent that this is just like American culpability for the slave trade You're arguing different degrees of direct and indirect cruelty for the past 500 years you fucking apes
