Vivek and his backers when they thought they survived the scandal from last week...

Amy Acton, Dems' nominee in Ohio, has long said she was molested by a man her mother married when she was a young child. There was a court battle. She went to live with her dad at age 12 ,a& she no longer talked to her mother. Ramaswamy released an ad ft the mother attacking her daughter as a liar.

Random thought. I wonder if much of the internet's current inability to have proper discourse over things is due to everyone having to be exposed to the opinions of teenagers across social media.

I'm not the kind of guy to talk about Twitter on Bluesky, but it's interesting to see some of the most "anti-woke" people be shocked by the racist posts they're seeing about the guy that fell off of Goliath and died. Some of them are legit doing Oppenheimer face at the sheer rate of racism.

Oh my god, bruh.

I don't know why nobody has (at least from what I've seen) tried to say that Malfoid is just Malfoy using magic to transition. I think that'd be really funny if that became a thing and you know it probably would make JK go full-on Pokemon Company.

I just saw a rightoid try to argue against work ethic by saying, and this is an exact quote. [but I’ve never heard ppl say “Kobe practice 18 footers for 7 hours every day” Maybe he did! But we mythologize the greats for greatness not grit] The lack of ball knowledge is off the charts these days.

It's moments like these that make me wish that I had all the episodes of Tough Season. Because I remember a character that had no idea what he was doing, but was happy to be included. Perfect contrast to this "sportsball"-saying techbro goober.

the tech bro who uses AI to play fantasy football for him is being dragged online. no one has ever been quite so mad frankly.

I don't know if anyone was paying attention to the news, but it's pretty funny how all the big media companies worked really hard to make the plane to Tel Aviv a big story and seemingly nobody on social media cared. More people are talking about Reggie and Kai than "the new United 93."

One thing I can never get over is how whenever Basketball comes up in discussions, British people posing as general Europeans always love to say "nobody cares about Basketball" as if EuroLeague and Eastern Europe in general don't exist.

Returning to this. Am not surprised about Taylor Lorenz...

The pre-2016 world taught me not to trust the media to begin with, so I wasn't surprised when: - NYT/WSJ/etc. pushed the "MAGA culture shift", cheered on violence against protesters along with a lot of other transgressions. - UK Media cheered the death of Jason Arday. - ESPN ran PR for Ballmer.

Headlines like this are garbage. This decision doesn't even allow the EO to go into effect. It only looks like a "win" because they ruled that states aren't effected by the EO for similar reasons as to why it can't go into effect. Don't get tilted. Don't get distracted. He did not win this one.

I really don't understand the narrative about Hong supposedly being projected to win when rhe only reason she seemed to be ahead was because nobody had any real party backing going in. Like I didn't even hear about the other candidates once and they seemed to vacuum up a chunk of the votes.

This whole sunscreen thing just kinda illustrates that a lot of these writers at big publications have the same level of intelligence, self-awareness and emotional control as the worst gaming magazine writers of the 90s and 00s. The veneer of prestige truly continues to erode in the 20s.

Common misconception about the aftermath of this is that EA sought the exclusive license, when it was actually Tagliabue who wanted to give one to EA because he felt 2K5 made the Shield look "cheap" And then race to grab licenses was kicked off from there and MVP Baseball was killed on the spot.

This might make somebody mad. But that's rich coming from China. The country whose people were doing this kind of thing everywhere else until Xi started complaining about the negative PR.

Other videos depict foreigners as arrogant, entitled, and aggressive bullies who believe their nationality places them above Chinese rules. These videos mostly feature white people, but sometimes also Black, Indian, or Japanese characters.

Seeing the timeline of the Ceuta/Morocco story has been telling. Yesterday - Trends heavily on Twitter and nowhere else. Even Reddit. Videos and articles en masse calling it a "migrant invasion" and little skepticism.

Today - Still tending on Twitter, but half of tweets are skeptical of the story. On Threads and Insta, posts calling it an invasion are getting either ratio'd or little buzz, while counter videos get engagement. The right-wing media machine is indeed failing.

Over on the other site they're talking about a "migrant crisis" in Spain happening on Ceuta. So I looked to see how far people had to swim to get there. Can someone tell me why Spain controls a piece of land on the landmass of Africa?

And this right here is the joy of supporting your local American soccer clubs. I got to see a guy, from my hometown (Redlands), play for the local USL2 squad (Redlands FC) and then get signed by my MLS team (Galaxy) and score his first goal. This makes it all worth it, even when your team loses.

The one time that Pat McAfee seemed to actually have his feelings hurt was he realized that the backlash to this wasn't superficial or anything that he could try to ignore. His legit started posting through it, in fact.
