My latest on fundraising and PACs in Kentucky's statewide races next year, where Rocky Adkins is jumping out to a huge $$$ lead in #kygov race. And sweet interactive map with @justinhicks.lpm.org!
Former Beshear advisor Rocky Adkins has tripled the fundraising haul of Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, his main Democratic rival in the 2027 Kentucky governor’s race. #kygov Adkins is also aided by a super PAC that raised another $285K, together breaking $2 million in less than three months.

McClatchy laid off 12 journalists at the Lexington Herald-Leader and eliminated a majority of its positions, as a part of its deep, nationwide layoffs. It leaves the second-largest newspaper in Kentucky with just two reporters left to cover city and state government.

McClatchy hedge fund absolutely gutted my hometown paper, where I learned to love journalism. Devastating.
12 layoffs at the Herald-Leader today, including myself. I'll say more later, but the support I've gotten from the city I am so proud to call home has been life changing. All I've wanted to do since moving to Lexington is serve the city well - you all have, I think, really helped me achieve that.

The projects do seem to stir emotions among the locals, but I wouldn't put happiness at the top of the list, per examples in Kentucky.
Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."

I spoke with Democrat Rocky Adkins about his run for governor of Kentucky. He says he'd be a governor that would be able to find common ground of legislation with the GOP supermajority, and expects to do better in urban areas than his 2019 run. He also says he's "evolved" on abortion laws. #kyga26
