I've been loaning out a team member and the receiving team submitted a complaint about her progress, so I told them to fuck off with that, and they can find another loaned team member because I want mine back. She's a powerhouse.

If there's ever an episode of Taskmaster with the most terrifying moments *for* the Taskmaster, it needs to include Catherine Ryan changing what's-his-name's name.

Three nights in a row, my dog has eaten the same toad and always with the exact same results. He gets it into his mouth, tries to hide it from me while looking right at me, spits it back out, and then spends the next 30 minutes 'dog spitting'. I keep trying to tell him about parasites, but dog, so..

A few minutes ago, I pushed the button to turn on the Roomba mop in the kitchen because I dripped and didn't feel like bending down with the sponge. At any rate, the *instant* I pushed the go button, the power went out in the entire neighborhood. Sorry, #MyREC Anyway, power is back on.

It used to be that the smoking area was the great equalizer where somebody low in the organization could capture the ear of somebody high in the organization. Working from home changes that dynamic.

Reading Catch-22 pre-military and reading it post-military hit wildly different. Pre-military, it's a story about the most colossally self-serving douchebags forced together through circumstance doing the most random shit over and over and over. Post-military, it's just a story about the Army.

I finally met somebody who actually got to Mogadishu before I did, and I arrived on the very first plane. Turns out, it's a guy I've worked with for six years who was Army ATC. Said he watched the SEALs take the beach, watched the reporters swarm them, and then gave my aircraft landing clearance.

I'm in the stage of the home build where all the inspections are complete, but I don't have an Occupancy Certificate. That's to say that I'm bringing pickup truck loads of household goods to the new home, but I can't yet stay overnight.

But, what makes it more inconvenient is that I work from home with three monitors, so I'll need to bring those monitors to the new home, but as soon as I do that, I need to move *all* of my computers and the network equipment and buy new lengths of CAT-6e... Except, I don't have my office built, yet

So, I'll have to build out a very temporary office where my workshop is supposed to go so that I can build the new office, which means I'll need my workshop. So, I'll have to build out a very temporary workshop, first.

I feel a little bit bad about printing out my electricity usage and costs for the past year for the realtor because I'm *that* guy who doesn't really use A/C unless it's stupidly hot. My average usage is $119 a month. My highest month last year was $177.

As I get my home ready for sale, I'm working on some plumbing, but I've chickened out and called a plumber. I'm pretty sure I could get the solder joints working. What I'm worried about is that I don't think I could get anything installed without bending copper pipe.

As a child, I remember seeing the "It's 10 o'clock. Do you know where your kids are?" commercials and thinking, "This is totally reasonable to wonder where we are. It's 10 o'clock. Am I actually where I told them I'd be?" Not that I'd necessarily call to update them, but whatever.

One of the worst things about having a new home built is that you now have a second air-conditioned and secure place where you can put your stuff, except that you're not allowed to put your stuff in it because the builders are still working.

I think what they did to Project Hail Mary in the movie was a tragedy. All of the action scenes in the book but just skip over all the exposition. Had I not read the book, I wouldn't have known why anybody listened to Eva, why the Xenonite chain was a big deal, or why the farm was so important.

Back when I was E-4 Mafia, I once bet the BN CSM 20 push-ups during a disagreement, most-likely a haircut regulation. So, he's down on the floor saying, "1 Specialist Voight, 2 Spec" when my E-7 boss walks out into the foyer, "What the hell is going on, Voight?" "I won the bet, Sergeant Smith."

Whenever I read something about Bletchley Park, I think of it as some remote outpost, but it's just outer London. It's like thinking of Lorton as being outer space for people in DC.

I brought a bubble wand to Mogadishu with me. If you ever want to *infuriate* some O-4, bring a bubble wand on a deployment. My SFC boss poured it out when he (immediately) figured out it was me. But, I had a MARS radio, so my spouse sent me a fresh bottle. Which also got poured out.

I took a little nap and woke up from a nightmare that I'd left my SCIF laptop somewhere at ONI and I kept walking from room to room trying to play it off like I wasn't frantic. I haven't worked in a SCIF in 15 years.

To all the half-autistics out there, when it comes time for 'action' or whatever, I want you to eat like 8 square meals in a 24 hour period. You don't have to like it. Maybe pop a multivitamin with iron and calcium or something while you're at it.
