As part of these measures, every steam service will be followed by a dedicated Fire Protection Train, which will monitor the line and respond immediately to any signs of fire, hence taking the pressure off the fire brigade should such an incident occur.

SERVICE UPDATE 23/7/26 The Talyllyn Railway is returning to our standard service. The safety of our passengers, volunteers, staff, neighbours, and the surrounding environment remains our highest priority. We are taking every reasonable precaution to mitigate risk of fire during current conditions.

It first arrived in 2022 but has spent time away at Alan Keef Ltd. being re-gauged among other work. Some bits are missing, such as the batteries, and there is still plenty of work to be done. The loco is now at Pendre where the restoration efforts will continue.
