We will be suspending our activity here until further notice. For the moment we do not have resources to maintain activity over the pack of platforms we are at. No worries, the support@k2mg.net inbox is still there if you need some help with accessing our projects!

Well, the weekend definitely was a blast as we forgot to post on July 16th when it was our 9th anniversary. At least we finally recovered from an outage caused by the hosting provider's upstream. Our helpdesk is up again. That's the process of ours and thank you for staying with us.

The digital circus you probably already know is not where it is. #Russia strikes again with prohibiting non-domestic authorization methods, e.g. some OpenID Connect endpoint you have integrated long ago. Good old email logon is sufficient to avoid fines but headache will be gone with the GeoIP ban.

Recently with Visual Studio 2026 we ran into an issue with ASP.NET Core Blazor components—if you run a debug session and edit at the same time, a few language server "features" will crash, e.g. Razor FindAllReferences or Razor Hover. Had anyone this happening in #JetBrains Rider?

@jsnover.com: "When a platform can’t answer “how should I build a UI?” in under ten seconds, it has failed its developers. Full stop." Yet another good read on #Windows software development! Should we mention that the last #Microsoft's UX/UI design guidelines had lost their consistency as well?

A good read from @domenic.me. Here are our two cents—is the RAM shortage we have now is an aftermath of #Microsoft being ignorant on native app development for decades? Might be a conspiracy theory but vibecoded Electron/VW2 apps are the soup we have today. Unfortunately. domenic.me/windows-nati...

domenic.meWindows Native App Development Is a MessI tried to build a Windows native app using Microsoft's latest technologies. Now I understand why everyone builds Electron apps.

Trivia: we wanted to use FreeBSD (but not OpenBSD at the time) for our e-mail server but urgency to deploy one called for Debian 13. Who knows, maybe we will adapt it, too!

🐡Everyone is talking about Linux, but what about the BSDs? Are they too complex, or just too quiet? One of the members in the OpenBSD community will help us explore these questions in the interview. #OpenBSD #OpenSource #OS #BSD #unix

During a weekend one of us walked through @youtrack.cloud's timeline on Wayback Machine. "Wait, that's a bird? I thought it to be a telescope facing forwards!" was a reaction when they looked at the May 2014 snapshot.

A "very small indie IT company" that is funded by government of a large country had decided to charge users for being able to use IMAP, SMTP and POP3. Because they lose revenue from ads. Because nobody wants to use email service with no privacy. @vivaldi.com, perfect time for Vivaldi Mail, isn't it?

Our moments outside of business tasks with @vivaldi.com's Vivaldi Mail involved. One of us is doing an annual checkup of accounts to migrate to personal Vivaldi Mail account. Today they discovered they can move e-mail between accounts right within Vivaldi Mail's user interface in Vivaldi itself!

We chose to continue servicing our forums board. The new lifecycle policy—effective December 7th, 2025—determines activity windows and our responsibility for upkeeping them. No rocket science there!

We were directly asked if it is still reasonable to maintain our own forums board, EI Forums, due to low guest-to-users conversion and severe search engine indexing issues. The question was followed by suggestion to archive it and freeze in "read only" state. We will tell you the answer in a week.

pvs-studio.com/en/blog/post... Not long ago, we took a deep dive into some bugs in the 86Box v5.0 emulator and explored a few ways to fix them. But we saved the best for last: one click is all it takes to break everything! No worries, though — @86box.net has already fixed it :) #cpp #programming

pvs-studio.comBox of bugs (exploded): Perils of cross-platform developmentIn September, we broke down the 86Box v5.0 release, timed for the 30th anniversary of Windows 95 retail launch, and promised to show you something else. What is it that we promised? And why did we...

It has been one month since #SteelHunters permanent shutdown. While most people consider it was a live service, we think it wasn't. Service can be considered "live" only after it passes the EAP phase and not any second earlier. We are not advocating Wargaming for decisions done but sharing thoughts.

On this Saturday, October 25th, we will be shutting down our #BlacklightRetribution server that was part of the #BLRevive project for over a year. We ran into severe technical issues. We would like to thank them for inviting us to the community of the game unusual to us, it was certainly a blast!

86Box 5.0 attracts users' attention with enhanced hardware support and a new dynamic processor recompiler. And PVS-Studio was attracted too, but with errors that were neatly packed into this tiny box. @86box.net pvs-studio.com/en/blog/post... #86box #cpp #programming #staticanalyzer

Friendly reminder for those who hadn't upgraded yet: #YouTrack 2025.2 is available *only* as Docker images, ZIPs are gone. There is a detour—download the layer with YouTrack distribution only and do the upgrade like usual! Keep in mind that such upgrades are not supported and your warranty is void!

We still have our sealed #windows95 "For distribution with a new PC only" in our stash. Not voiding the seal as we cannot find that new PC that bundled this kit! 😅

IT IS OFFICIAL! Windows 95 is now a 30 year old operating system! Happy 30th Birthday to the operating system that I look at as the best operating system alongside Windows 98SE and Windows XP. #windows95 #retrogaming #dosgaming

'The Day Before' was a victim of development mismanagement, which lead to its doomsday in first place. This game definitely set its name in stone.

Unreal Engine powers a growing number of projects—from the acclaimed "The Witcher" to the equally impressive "The Day Before" As projects scale, the cost of unnoticed errors rises dramatically. pvs-studio.com/en/blog/post... #unrealengine #cpp #cplusplus

(ex)Terminating bugs is such a pleasure, both for developers and users when they receive updates. Give PVS-Studio a try if you are a software engineer!

What do you need to control your OS using only the keyboard? Every developer has their own take on the answer—Microsoft's was to release Windows Terminal. But what's going on under its hood? pvs-studio.com/en/blog/post... #cpp #csharp #os #microsoft #windows #staticanalysis #staticanalyzer

Online DRM applied to physical media, which was most notable on releases past 2009, in a form of attachment to some digital distribution platform, nullifies the point of owning a physical copy. On top of that in mid-2010s some AAA-developer put a DVD box with a... DVD-shaped carton.

It's been 8 years since we stepped onto the path to eternity or eternal oblivion. The path we build and everyone around us building. This #anniversary is still quiet, like on regular weekday evening or weekend. We thank everyone who's with us and who joined recently. And remember, K2MG is a process!

Moment of Gratitude: CloudFlare CloudFlare saved the Internet Archive servers from a DDOS yesterday. Max rate of this DDOS attack was 525 Gbps (44.93 Mpps) of a "TCP flood" @archive.org does not have enough bandwidth to fend off that kind of attack = wouldbe bad saturday. Thank you #CloudFlare

Today #LestaGames was recognized as an 'extremist organization' in #Russia. There is a catch: it does not affect neither their clients, nor players. We are monitoring the situation to learn how it will affect Wargaming Group Limited as several news media mention Victor Kislyi as Lesta co-founder.

On May 27th there will be a trial for #LestaGames on their shady business done with intellectual property of #WorldOfTanks (locally rebranded as Mir Tankov). While we silently monitor the situation in both communities, we try evaluate how would this impact players who also play #Wargaming games.

Turns out this has also no effect on accessibility of Wargaming Group Limited products and the community can still safely access their games. This means that nothing catastrophic had happened and World of Tanks communities continue their daily routines as usual.

When developers experiment on users using A/B tests, we experiment on ourselves using recently launched platforms. With that said we launch our #Bluesky page to represent ourselves outside communities where we are already known.

You are up to date.
