Absolutely love this approach to naming from Paola Nogales-Ascarrunz, one of the co-authors of the study that established this cat as a new species. It's new to science but not new to local knowledge!

The new wild cat species is about the size of a domestic kitten and lives in Bolivia.

Just started doing some reading on who the candidates are for the Myatt's Field by-election And it's not even close, this person here has my vote. Has more integrity than any local representative I've ever seen!

It's so strange, when I'm walking Round London these days, I legit find myself questioning what colour grass is actually supposed to be. Grass being anything other than a lifeless, dusty brown seems like a distant memory. Maybe even a false memory.

Every time I check in on West Ham, I'm reminded what a great decision it was to stop caring about football. This guy is someone who supports the IDF and consistently repeats the Israeli Government's DARVO justifications for killing thousands of innocent Palestinians. Plus he's a Spurs reject.

Hate to be harsh about something that so many great artists likely worked on But even this poster is completely lacking in art direction. The characters are all just slapped on there, overlapping each other, no spacing for good silhouettes, all in random poses, wearing their default fits

Look at how thoughtful and cohesive the compositions are. Plus every character being given a pose and expression to show off a bit of their personality. The colours are reworked so each character/outfit stands out, or like in Clamp's, characters all in themed fits. Makes it so much more appealing.

Kalu Leopard
@kaluleopard.bsky.social

And Studio Khara's very recent 20th anniversary poster probably took far less "work" (one character drawn probably took fewer total hours but ofc that's not the only measure) but made a much more appealing poster. Imo, the difference is art direction!

I don't enjoy Mappa's (managers'/executives') philosophy of just getting the job done, rather than doing it beautifully. This poster just typifies that. In comparison, look at these anniversary artworks from other studios/illustrators:

Won't pretend like I watch a bunch of college basketball but I do know that in the one highlight video I've seen of AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson was busting his ass the entire game Very intrigued to see how they both do as rookies

Kalu Leopard
@kaluleopard.bsky.social

Again, was just 1 vid but Peterson's game also looks better suited to an analtyics-based NBA offense. Dybantsa seemed to take a lot of contested mid rangers or just straight force his way to the basket. It was extremely impressive but just may not translate so well to the league in its current state

Kalu Leopard
@kaluleopard.bsky.social

So I guess my luke-warm take is that Peterson could have a much better rookie season that Dybantsa (again, based off me watching highlights from one game, whilst sat on my sofa in my pyjamas)

Watched 'Jennifer's Body' for the first time last night and one thing I can say is that the film was completely butchered in the edit. The version on Netflix (guessing the 'Theatrical Cut') just seemed to have Needy making conclusions based on absolutely nothing. Made it narratively so weak

Kalu Leopard
@kaluleopard.bsky.social

Removing the Locker Room scene meant Needy just randomly decides this Dance we've never heard of is a big deal And removing the knock on Chip's door makes her finding the corsage in the park just pure serendipity. (Also you lose some good thematic dialogue between Chip's mum and baby sister)

Kalu Leopard
@kaluleopard.bsky.social

Tbh I don't know how much I'd have personally enjoyed the 'perfect' cut anyway. I didn't really enjoy the movie constantly undercutting its own intense moments with humour But concept-wise, I did really like it as a very clear feminist criticism of the world that young women have to grow up in

Can't lie, I'm having a fucking ton of fun playing Pokémon Champions. Some m things I was annoyed about (no choice band/specs, no pre-evo Mons etc.) have actually made the meta more manageable and actually made it so that every Mon has some staying power to affect games. It works really well!

Kalu Leopard
@kaluleopard.bsky.social

Like the Mega on each person's team doesn't feel anywhere near as critical as a Restricted does in a competitive format. You can take out an opponent's Mega and they're still very much in the game. Just feels very balanced, which is extremely rare for competitive Pokémon!

After today's results, it's pretty hard to see any outcome other than Caruana winning the Candidates this year! Still holding our hope for Praggnanandhaa or Sindarov to come out on top!

This is so insane 😂 Not just the idea that poor results mean they *lose money*, rather than just missing out on bonuses. But more so the fact that they only barely missed out on the semi final spots due to NRR
