“The internet is a store but it used to be a library” hits me like a slug to the chest

It's owned by the government, so Trump decides. Also, it's not owned by the government, so it shouldn't be used for offensive military things. Also, defending Ukraine is offensive.

Elon Musk responds to concerns that he’s turned off Starlink for Ukraine, insisting that any decision on that is made by Trump (the guy he helped get elected)

How dare he besmirch the sanctity of oligarch propaganda!

Forbes Fired Top Editor After Discovering He Received Secret $6 Million Payment Randall Lane, the magazine’s chief content officer, received the money from the founder of Shook Research, which has worked with Forbes on content about wealth advisers. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/12/b...

Growing up with shareware increased the number and diversity of games I was exposed to by at least a factor of 10. I just recently got my game demo on Steam (It's been on itch.io for a while) and it feels way more important than when I first got it up for sale. (plug: check out Hustle Together)

It's frustrating trying to explain to older generations (the ones with all the money and power) that every major news outlet is now magat propaganda. They think that repeating the words that Trump says counts as adversarial coverage.

News outlets that covered the US-Saudi nuclear deal without mentioning that Jared Kushner, Trump’s top foreign policy advisor, is getting paid by the Saudi government: WSJ NYT AP Reuters CNN NBC ABC CBS The Guardian Semafor Washington Post Fox News New York Post BBC Newsweek MS NOW

This is basically the media coverage of everything Trump, since forever.

Why do people report that Trump has shut down the Kennedy Center “for two years”? What has he DONE: Shut it down. What has he PROMISED: To reopen it in 2 years. What is REPORTED: The promise. What do we KNOW: Trump always lies.

It’s really embarassing how rampant anti-intellectualism is. Like we are getting to a point where a solid percentage of the world feel knowing things for certain is for soy cucks. Like it doesn’t matter if it’s actually true as long as it FEELS true. Embarassing.

If "he had a gun" is perfectly legal reasoning for police to shoot you, you don't have 2nd amendment rights. If "they're promoting terrorism" is a perfectly legal reason to snuff out your protest and free speech, you don't have 1st amendment rights. Its meaningless.

Try to remember, when you're having holiday events with magats, that they literally voted to murder you, and it was kind of obvious at the time.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

So the president designates groups of unnamed and unknown people as “terrorists”, then the Secretary of Defense decides who fits under that extremely broad definition, then the US military kills them, and that’s all we are allowed to know.

It's hard to do Christmas without supporting nazi billionaires, but not impossible. Shop or participate in your local flea markets (which might not be as local as you'd like) to avoid empowering the people destroying America. Etsy is also not-Amazon, and good for people without anything local.

OK I was skeptical until I saw it had 4k noodles. That seems like an OK value.

All this Grok shit is a perfect reminder that LLMs retain the biases of their programmers, but also that they don’t understand context or the physical laws that govern the material world, because they don’t understand anything.

This is $1.41 stolen from each US taxpayer.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

Absolutely outrageous that taxpayers are paying Republican political consultants millions of dollars to make hype videos for Kristi Noem’s 2028 campaign for president or VP, which is what this is all about. www.propublica.org/article/kris...

Trump companies destroyed documents against court orders. Trump flushed documents at the White House. Trump is a criminal who thinks he is above the law. Even if they release the Epstein files, it's likely the most damning evidence will have been destroyed.

What's extraordinary is how normal it is for the so called "liberal" media to use the Orwellian terms that the magats have chosen to frame the conversation. They keep framing kidnapping and abductions as "arrests", bribes as "donations" or "investments", murdering foreigners as "military strikes".

I love how Rep. Joe Neguse reframed this question.
