Honestly, I miss the days when Bill Pullman was president — when heroes knew their lines, and aliens didn’t have to reconsider invading because of our sheer stupidity.

Watch Babiš, a former Soviet secret police agent turned billionaire PM, follow Orbán's playbook: gut independent Czech public media and put its funding under government control. Good old gov't work at 4:36 a.m. on Saturday, just as the autumn school holidays begin and working parents can't protest.

reuters.comCzech coalition advances media overhaul in rushed overnight voteIn a rare overnight vote, the Czech ruling coalition pushed public media funding changes through a first parliamentary hurdle despite criticism that they ‌could weaken broadcaster independence.

Watch a former Soviet-era secret police operative turned billionaire turned Czech prime minister desperately dodge Zelenskyy's handshake, then act surprised when it fails. A man who's spent his life engineering hostile takeovers suddenly hesitates. Apparently, all Putin's bitches know their place.

Like most Americans, I assume—or at least hope—that this deadly combination of truly despicable thiefs and bilionaire idiots will come to an end with the elections. But I sincerely hope that, in practical terms, it happens before it's too late.

Oct11: Trump announces Russia–Ukraine ceasefire. Oct12: Trump: “They agreed because I said so.” Oct13 (before Kyiv 18:00?): Starlink restrictions in effect. Oct13–14: Russia launches 39 missiles and 128 drones at Ukraine. Oct14: Starlink restrictions reported. Oct15: Starlink connectivity restored.

So Trump's latest deal is that America pays Russia for diesel it doesn't need, in exchange for the privilege of paying Russia again by lifting sanctions.

At what point is "fitness to govern" no longer abstract? Trump, Musk, Putin, Netanyahu or Kim have demonstrably made decisions causing mass death. This is murder not "controversy." It is a civilization-level safety problem. We don't wait for the plane to crash before requiring air-traffic control.

I've noticed that physics often starts from entities and asks how they interact. My intuition is that we may have it backwards: physical reality may fundamentally be the capacity for relations, with entities emerging as stable consequences of that capacity to relate.

If relations are fundamental rather than entities, then physical "nothing" is not an absence, but a state with no distinctions — indistinguishable from the potential of everything, and perhaps offering a path toward explaining the how question.

Modern media has industrialized a process that used to be rare. In 19th century, a charismatic charlatan might reach thousands. Today, algorithms reward exactly the traits that made early charlatans effective: confidence conflict simplification identity formation anti-establishment narratives

Israel signed the Rome Statute in 2000 but never ratified it and later stated that it did not intend to become a party to the treaty. Pretending to have an intention that you don't actually have is fraud. Not too complicated, right?

CZ: Few idiots pretending to be a "pro-combustion engines" political party, admitted to the government by a Trump-like billionaire prime minister because he needed to avoid prison, installed a minister of culture, formerly unknown "artist", who just pushed through a law restricting public media.

Gambling is not a "gaming product" but a behaviorally optimized extraction system. It is not only the operator who is immoral, but also the rest of us who have the ability to distinguish between cause and effect and yet silently tolerate it.

Which is a bit of a shame, considering it was the last one.

This year's "Don't forget that we defeated the Nazis (in a war we ourselves started by invading the first victim country in collaboration with them) (which we would have liked to have continued if they hadn't betrayed us before it was convenient for us to betray them)" reminder was quite dull.

So here we are again. POTUS threatening to destroy a country because he does not understand his actions. Project Freedom was an escalation tactic. Iran responded in kind. Now he is mad about that. This is infuriating to people that understand how this works. #IranWar #ProjectFreeDumb

've to wake up every day half-expecting nuclear war, only to scroll into a world where nothing means what it should. Everything redefined—error becomes identity, intent becomes interpretation, reality becomes narrative. Could you join me in not tolerating criminal idiots pretending neurodivergence?

America not being a signatory to a number of treaties does not mean that international law does not exist. The US is conducting clear war crimes, and boasting about it. They should be treated as a pariah state. They definitely shouldn't be getting a Royal visit.

The two-party system is a fraud. Republicans, like all conservatives, pursue a single goal – the hierarchical domination of the few. Thus they are not a political alternative to anything, but simply the opposite of democracy. Under the impression of preventing, Democrats are mere complement.
