After the first round elections, Congressman André Janones created a WhatsApp channel titled “Lula’s Army.” It ballooned to 10 million people following his commands on how to behave online to counteract Meta’s far-right-favouring algorithms. The right knows how to use socials. We must learn, too.

anyway it would work like a chain printer, sliding unsorted marbles over columns until the right ones line up and then punch them down with solenoids

i think nathan fielder should do a 3 hour documentary on the recent PHP vulnerability and call it "you can free() everything"

"average person knows 3 guitar chords" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person knows 0 guitar chords. Guitar Georg, who doesn't want to make it cry or sing and knows all the chords, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

If the only way you know how to ask me to be on your podcast is with a 4K word long generic summary of a book I wrote that somehow ALWAYS includes "what drew me to..." or "what struck me about..." with generic phrases from online reviews of said book--well,

I wished I could discover it again for the first time, It's the kind of story where things change irreversibly. I didn't think things would change. I settled down one night to enjoy more and then it ended.

If I had a podcast, it would be with her, and you would be welcome as a guest. And there would be tea. Which I don't like.

I gave it to my friend. Who got bored, she told me stopped reading because she wasn't invested in the people on the planet and none of their lives seemed important and she just didn't care. We were having tea. We often had tea.

I wanted to tell her what happens, that she had to keep reading, and how I wish I could go back to being not invested. How I was shocked to learn which eyes I see through. I wanted to tell her that I was too late. I wanted for her to discover too. I wanted her to understand.

i agree. but that's not what i said. just because the only sheep you have seen so far are white doesn't mean that all sheep *must* be white. pithily, you're treating the absence of evidence as the evidence of absence

i left X because it wasn't home any more. if you don't build a new home together, it slowly gets worse and worse, and then one day your old home will be intolerably bad and then you got nowhere to go

I left X *because* I had a large following. People told me I was the reason they were staying on there, and I didn’t want to be responsible for 100k+ people sticking around for abuse, CSAM, and Nazis. Simple as that

I think if you conceptualize sheep as being a wooly layer surrounding a sheep-y core both of fixed density, you can infer that in some places the core is very small or the wool layer is huuuuge or both

commonly misunderstood map, "sheep density" actually shows density of each sheep. central european and the nordic sheeps weigh much less for the same volume than their spanish and italian counterparts. northern english and welsh sheeps are either heavier than lead or are extremely small

How sheepish is Europe? This map shows the distribution of sheep across Europe. Source: buff.ly/dSfHDOe

alt text: the quoted image is a map titled "sheep density", which (i presume) does not show what i described, but instead shows population density. no units are given. ranges are labelled from "high" to "low". overall impression is as i described above, but a lot less fun
