How can a tiny worm shape a scientific career? Join 2026 GSA Mentorship Award recipient @irinakitop.bsky.social of @fredhutch.org on August 20 at 1:00 p.m. EDT as she shares how C. elegans has guided discoveries, collaborations, and approaches to mentorship. 🔗https://buff.ly/iUmQCCQ

Not you Harmit. There must have been some knowledge and wisdom in the stuff you were making up! LOL

Harmit Singh Malik@harmitmalik.bsky.social

Having your kids listen to exciting podcasts on subjects is cool and all, but it takes away their experience of discovering later in life that their dad basically made up stuff in response to all their questions on different topics he knew nothing about. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Very excited to be in Barcelona to share our latest data on how LSD1 is a critical target in the Alzheimer’s disease pathway at the Neurobiology of Brain Disorders GRC

Congratulations Adam!

NOA day! 🎉 Mentally exhausted after 14mo of waiting but relieved to have received the NOA for our R35 competitive renewal! Grateful to the hard working staff at NIGMS…thrilled to continue the lab’s work on chromatin and stem cell function in the intestinal epithelium!

Amazing scientist. Well deserved.

Congratulations to Lee Niswander, winner of the @socdevbio.bsky.social #2026SDB Edwin G. Conklin Medal recognising her enormous contributions not just to science, but to the mentorship of generations of developmental biologists, advancing #devbio both through knowledge and people.

Pretty remarkable.

Very excited for our new paper, now out in @cellcellpress.bsky.social! /🧵 The protein Tau forms intracellular toxic tangles in neurons in Alzheimer’s disease and Tauopathies. Tau pathology slowly spreads from cell-to-cell but the mechanisms are not clear /1 authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S...

Excellent course. Was delighted that my grad student Caitlin Fix (pictured here) got this amazing opportunity!

🧠 In 2026, JAX Education welcomed researchers from around the world for immersive Alzheimer's and aging-focused training programs designed to accelerate discovery and collaboration. Interested in attending a 2027 course? We'd love to hear from you. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4eljE4W

It was my great pleasure to get to introduce the great Jane Hubbard as the keynote speaker at the MAPSS+DevCell C. elegans topic meeting last night #wormtopicmeeting2026

Amazing working with Ryo Sanabria, Danielle Garsin, Rob Dowen, Jordan Ward, Swathi Arur and Jennifer Schisa to organize the MAPSS+DevCell 2026 topic meeting here in Madison, WI #wormtopicmeeting2026

Very proud of my undergraduate honors thesis student Zohra Jamil, pictured here receiving the James Edward Oglethorpe Award for graduating senior who demonstrated the highest excellence in scholarship, leadership and excellence @oglethorpeuniv.bsky.social from President McClymond at graduation

Very proud to be Director of such an amazing program with exceptional students!

The future is bright! #NIGMS funded training grant recipients from @emory-GMB.bsky.social, including poster and talk award recipients, Mackenzie Roberson and Shaelin Rose at #SESDB @socdevbio.bsky.social

Very proud of my former postdoc Teresa Lee, for serving as organizing chair of the Northeast @socdevbio.bsky.social Meeting (see ⬇️) and for my former postdoc Brandon Carpenter, for serving as organizing chair of the Southeast @socdevbio.bsky.social Meeting. Building the scientific community!

One last farewell from your #NESDB2026 organizers - Mansi, John, and me (all Berkeley MCB alums!). But the countdown starts NOW.... only 50 weeks til #NESDB2027! We're *delighted* to introduce next year's team: Becca @radikes.bsky.social, Juanma, & Jess. See y'all next time!

Congratulations to my students Saahj Gosrani and Monica Reeves for winning best talk and best poster at the Emory Graduate Student Biological Sciences Division Symposium. Very proud!

Remarkable story about how transcriptional repressors and nucleosome remodeling reinforce the function of histone modifications to specify cell fate (germline vs. soma). Have a read!

A new #GENETICS study from @katzlab.bsky.social, @bscarp84.bsky.social, and colleagues explores the relationships between histone modifications, nucleosome remodeling, and transcriptional repressors, which play an important role in maternal reprogramming in #Celegans. buff.ly/tHiFtAr

The same western blot image used 23 times in 14 different papers by one Japanese team. The image has been labelled as representing a range of experiments and proteins. This is the most I have ever seen. Perhaps it is a record?

The best keynote talks make you wish you studied the question the speaker is presenting. In that respect, this amazing talk by Amita Sehgal (UPenn) on how and why flies sleep (which is likely the same reason we do) is just so amazing it’s hard to describe. Mind is truly blown. #Dros26

Was very excited to work on this with @bscarp84.bsky.social

Excited to Share Our New Publication in #GENETICS! academic.oup.com/genetics/adv... Check out our new publication of our research exploring how the DREAM and MEC NuRD complexes reinforce SPR 5/MET 2 maternal reprogramming to safeguard proper developmental cell fates in C. elegans.

Was really privileged to play a very small part in providing feedback on the development. Once again @odedrechavi.bsky.social innovating science. Brilliant!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT📣: I haven’t been this excited to be part of something new in 15 years… Thrilled to reveal the passion project I’ve been working on for the past year and a half!🙀🥳 (thread 👇)

Awesome science!
