Repeated infections being a “fact of life” is a framing designed to make you think something is naturally inevitable rather than the expected result of a series of public health decisions designed with something other than your health and safety at the forefront.

I’ve had Covid once in six years. My husband, who frequently works on crowded sets, zero times. My parents and siblings who mask regularly in a variety of stages of life? 0-1 times. It is not a fact of life. It is not always a choice, but it is much more of a choice than you are being told.

Recently re-read “Disability Visibility: First Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century”, as edited by the late Alice Wong - and, oof. What a time to revisit this text... but I’m glad I did. Highly recommend folks keep this one on your shelves. 📚

Recently finished St. John Mandel‘s new book, “Exit Party”: I enjoyed the distinct, post-collapse worlds that explore themes around identity, will versus fate, quantum physics (including an astute tie to the experience of PTSD/trauma), and the circular nature of grief & time. Check it out! 📚
