It can only be a Backyard ultra where you run over 500 miles in 124 hours, gain a new world record and come away with a DNF. What an ending, massive congratulations Ivo Steyaert and Merijn Geerts, I cannot wait to see what happens at Bigs next year

In 2022 they stopped together after 101 yards. In 2024 they stopped together (along with Frank Gielen) after 110 yards. These guys are good friends. Of course they were going to stop together this time as well, after setting a new world best.

Trader Joe’s Oven-Baked Cheese Bites is my new favorite snack so y’all probably should stock up now because I’m certain TJ’s will discontinue it as soon as they find out how much I like it.

The Belgian team is about to finish yard 120 which means that they've been running for 5 days now. I'm trying to think of what I could do for that long. I survived Big Cypress so I could probably see 36-48 hours of Phish, but 120 hours with a power nap at the end of each hour? No way!

Yard 110. Two Belgians. Both former WR holders. Chasing 119.

Mark Dowdle wins the United States race with 107 yards; Jon Noll with the assist. The United States finishes with 1,120 yards, #1 overall.

And then there were two. The USA and Belgium remain in Big’s Backyard Ultra World Team Championship.

And then there were three. Julien Pierlot did not start yard 101; Christophe Baud will win for France assuming he completes this yard. Three nations remain in Big’s Backyard Ultra World Team Championship.

After 96 yards at Big’s Backyard Ultra World Team Championship, four nations remain in the race, each with two runners. The USA is in first place with 1099 yards, followed by Japan (1021), Belgium (1002), and France (880).

Yard 86. Team USA has lost Nick Petterson. That drops them to 5 runners. Currently six points behind Australia. These two down under have been gritting it out for hours. One just fell but got to the line to go again. He tore his calf but will run "on his toes."

Yard 84 underway. If Team USA holds, they will surpass the Australians in three Yards. Team Japan still in it with three runners. Belgium three. France two. And the UK three.

Yard 80. TEAM USA has narrowed the deficit to 36 Yards. On top of that, Australia has dropped to 2 runners. USA still has 8. They can catch the lead in 6 Yards now.

Team USA has a chance. Australia has lost several runners, now down to 4. USA still has 8. If they can hold, they would take first place in 12 Yards. IF. Sarah Perry is out for the UK. Yard 78 underway.

The next six hours could be crucial, says Laz. He believes Team USA, who has moved from 4th to 2nd, may catch Australia.

Yard 73. The three-day mark has been passed. Now, over 300 miles by each runner. Team USA has moved into second place and is a strong position to hold it.

Sonia Poutrel has broken the French Backyard women's record with 64 Yards. She's yet to run a Yard over 50 minutes. 🇫🇷 She was the 15th seed!!

Yard 62. The situation has changed, again. Belgium and Japan have both dropped to 8 runners. The USA is holding with 10 and may have the chance to fight for second. Australia is pulling away. Their team is nearly intact, only dropping one runner (one of their best) early on.

Then there were 18. Denmark 🇩🇰 out after 60 Yards.

Yard 55. Japan loses one more. Australia now 8 Yards behind with two extra runners.

Now it’s getting interesting. . .

Yard 53. Team USA loses Stephanie Rosebaugh. Now down to 11 runners. 21 countries remain.

After 34 yards four nations lead Big’s Backyard Ultra World Team Championship with 510 total yards. Malta 🇲🇹 is out, its race having been won by Ray Grech with 34 yards, assist Simon Callus.

2024 team championship 479 runners reached 24 hours. 2026 team championship 683 runners reached 24 hours. 2024 seven races were decided in less than 24 hours. 2026 two races were decided in less than 24 hours.

After 32 yards, 52 nations remain in Big’s Backyard Ultra World Team Championship. Paraguay 🇵🇾 was won by Ricardo Arias with 31 yards, assist Daniel Tellez; Zambia 🇿🇲 is won by Cosmas Bwalya with 32 yards, assist Alick Mashowo.

The Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 is the latest nation out of Big’s Backyard Ultra World Team Championship. The DR winner is Livio Feliz with 26 yards, assist to Simon Cepeda.
