I’ve co-signed @labourlewis.bsky.social’s letter to Andy Burnham calling for public ownership of water. We already have ‘public control’. It's failed. £85bn+ extracted by shareholders, sewage in our rivers, bills going up. We need public ownership. Add your name: actionnetwork.org/petitions/la...

Merveille du Jour (Griposia aprilina) to my #Norwich garden moth trap last night. The first this year of this beautiful species. Translates from French as "Marvel of the Day". Nuff said. #moths #norfolkmoths #mothsmatter #teammoth #bugsky

What an end to the trip. From Norwick to Norwich we go. Pallas’s Grasshopper Warbler in the shadow of the famous Valyie garden on Unst this afternoon. Great views of this much wanted lifer. Crap record shot below. Hawfinch and Barred Warbler also nice supporting cast.

Some autumnal loveliness in this morning's #Norwich moth trap. Green-brindled Crescent & Black Rustic #moths #teammoth #mothsmatter #bugsky #norfolkmoths

Some "non-new" #Norwich garden moth highlights from September. #norfolkmoths #moths #mothsmatter #teammoth #bugsky

A couple of nights (18th & 19th September) trapping on the North #Norfolk coast at Kelling provided some fabulous autumn species. Details in ALT #moths #mothsmatter #teammoth #bugsky #norfolkmoths

New species for my #Norwich garden over the last few weeks. Garden list currently stands at 602 species recorded since April 2020. Details in ALT. #moths #mothsmatter #teammoth #bugsky #insects

SIBERIAN BLUE ROBIN! Hillwell, Shetland. Enough said . . . #ukbirding

Bottle-nosed Dolphins passing Bridges of Ross last week. #dolphins #cetaceans #Ireland

This Red-billed Chough at Bridges of Ross this afternoon provided some brief entertainment in a slow afternoon of seabird passage. Fabulous birds. #IrishBirding

Forecasted favourable-ish conditions at Bridges of Ross today did not materialise in seabird passage. After early rain, a Wilson's Petrel @ 0934 (M.Hoit) gave us hope, but the sun came out & passage was minimal until a BAROLO in close Manx @ 1806 - my 4th here & 2nd self-found. Magic. #IrishBirding

Great Shearwater (Ardenna gravis) passing Bridges of Ross, Co.Clare yesterday. Hopefully not too compressed! #IrishBirding

A lovely surprise in this morning's #Norwich garden moth trap. My second Dark-crimson Underwing (Catocala sponsa) (after one in July '22). Formerly a very rare migrant to #Norfolk, now likely breeding in small numbers. #norfolkmoths #teammoth #mothsmatter #bugsky

Has anyone else had Ivy Bee (Colletes hederae) out this early before? Several feeding on Traveller's Joy (Clematis vitalba) in Cambs near Newmarket this morning. #bugsky #pollinators #bees

The last of our Pufflings on the Isle of May are leaving although it was still a surprise to find this little fella in the moth trap! I soon released it successfully into the North Sea

Some nice moth-ing whilst on holiday in Normandy. Not too many new species encountered and only one of those a macro. New species pictured, details in ALT. #moths #bugsky #teammoth #mothsmatter

New species for my #Norwich garden last few nights. A most wanted Rosy Knot-horn aka Rhubarb & Custard, Dichomeris alacella, Caloptilia alchimiella/robustella - can I ask the thoughts of @mothiduk.bsky.social on this? (see ALT) Plus Saltmarsh Plume #norfolkmoths #teammoth #bugsky #mothsmatter

A couple of nice Norwich spiders. I've identified the first as a Enoplognatha ovata or latimana (Candy-striped Spider) & the other as Nigma walckenaeri (though comments on iRecord suggest I'm wrong!) @britishspiders.bsky.social #spiders #bugsky

I read this cover to cover countless times as a youngster. This is a brilliant idea from Mark if anybody knows of any younger birders out there.

A new species for me today whilst volunteering for Natural England at Bure Marshes NNR, Norfolk. False Ladybird (Endomychus coccineus) - an absolute stunner! #beetles #coleoptera #bugsky @norfolknats.bsky.social

Volunteering today with Natural England at Bure Marshes NNR coincided with a moth survey. So conveniently I got observe the traps being emptied. Lots of nice stuff & few new species for me. See ALT for details. #moths #norfolkmoths #teamoth #mothsmatter #bugsky

Who said moths are dull and eat clothes? Royal Mail stamps issue, release date 9th July

The scabious is out in abundance on my #Cambridgeshire work site and with it the Large Scabious Mining-bees have emerged. This is a big species, as big (if not bigger) than Honey Bee. And the pollen it collects form these wonderful pink trousers! #bugsky #pollinators #bees #solitarybees

🤦one for @mrjamesob.bsky.social maybe?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZP6... Proper good this from @wwtworldwide.bsky.social #ukbirding

Glad I got the video as my pics of Wednesday's Black Kite at Swanton Novers NNR raptor watchpoint are pretty shocking! Though pics alongside a Red Kite are at least interesting. #norfolk #UKbirding #norfolkbirding

3/3...final sample of "new for year" #moths trapped the last 3 nights in my #Norwich garden. Freyer's Pug, Ingrailed Clay, Poplar Kitten & Peppered Moth. #teammoth #mothsmatter #norfolkmoths #bugsky
