I’m pretty picky about what I’ll commit to watching for three hours. Moreover, I’m not a fan of reality TV or Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy, both of which I’d liken to Fielder’s style—so yeah, I’m not sure #ThatDoc is for me. And FOMO doesn’t bother me. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Glad y’all are enjoying it though!

Thanks to the Orland Park Public Library for hosting me and my Chicago horror movies program last night. I love that Chucky can still scare a big audience! 🔪😱 (1/2)

And special thanks to longtime Chicago Movie Tours supporters Todd and Cindy for coming to the talk—and for gifting me a miniature Griswold house, all lit up and playing the “Hallelujah Chorus!" I am now prepared for the upcoming holiday season! 😆 (2/2)

My Open House Chicago weekend included the Winter Garden at Harold Washington Library, the VERY cool former Sears Campus Powerhouse (now DRW College Prep High School)—which, despite what several online sources claim, does NOT seem to be featured in Ocean’s 12—and Muddy Waters’ home/new museum. (1/2)

And then there’s the Uptown Theatre, where a quick scroll through social media reveals that “No photography inside” was apparently more of a suggestion for many folks. 😂 I followed the rules, so here’s my photo of the exterior, folks! (2/2)

Gah, further research suggests the old Sears Powerhouse may indeed be featured briefly in Ocean's 12—despite at least 3 Chicago newspapers listing incorrect addresses for the location. 😐 Still working on visual comparisons...

Candyman was released #OTD in 1992. Production began in Chicago in November 1991, with on-location filming at UIC, the Randolph Street Bridge, and, most famously, Cabrini-Green. The slasher film opened on 1,251 screens nationwide, earning about $5.4m in its first weekend (roughly $13m today). 🐝

A weekend trip to Indianapolis included a tour of Pres. Benjamin Harrison’s house, a jalapeño pineapple margarita, duckpin bowling, live blues at the Slippery Noodle, a city walking tour, the Indiana Medical History Museum, and a war memorial with an unnecessarily feisty colonial-era mannequin.

What a cool surprise this week! A library patron who regularly attends my talks made me this incredible piece of book art—with the pages folded into the word MOVIES! ❤️

If it weren’t satire (and released 15 years ago), we might have a different ballgame.
