While you might go to them to learn, or simply to find a good story, you will end up seeing through the eyes of people unlike yourself—and therefore might accidentally pick up mental lampreys like empathy, understanding, compassion, and an appreciation for the powerful clarity of the serial comma.

I can't in good conscience vote for either of my senate candidates this year. Yeah, the Dem's platform overall aligns more closely with my values, but both of them are pieces of shit when it comes to trans people.

Does it make me a single-issue voter? Maybe so. But I like doing weird little things like using the bathroom and being addressed with the correct name and pronouns.

Happy birthday to me! *Finally* got my ears pierced on this personal spa day. Massage, sushi, ear piercing, friends, and board/card games. Great day!

I didn't get everything finished until yesterday, but that was just removing the old tank. These guys have been getting used to their new home for about a week now.

The water is getting cloudy already (as I reused most of it from the old tank to ease the transition), so the UV filter will be added in the next few days, but it's looking good!

The Roads Have Eyes! 👁️ Turn on the Surveillance Layer in Map Options to see known license plate readers from Flock Safety, Motorola Solutions (Vigilant), Genetec, Axis Communications, Axon, Leonardo (ELSAG), Neology, Rekor, PlateSmart, Ubicquia, Verkada, and other outdoor surveillance cameras.

How can pet shops sell a critically endangered species? As I was setting up my new aquarium, I noticed every single pet shop was selling axolotls. I overheard one worker explaining how firefly axolotls come to be. It's horrific!

The tank heater isn't working, so no luck yet on moving the fish. Don't want to shock them with a sudden 7°F temperature difference!

Two years ago my parents' Alexa Dot "recognized" my voice mistaking me for my dad. Today, Google no longer recognizes my voice. Practice and persistence pays off! I've still got some work to do to be *happy* with my voice, but I'm well on my way!

So. Love triangle on a show I'm watching (an old one, early 2000s). It bothered me then, and it *really* bothers me now, when the two guys vieing for the woman's affection shake hands and say, "May the best man win." I'm now rooting for her to be interested in someone else entirely.

Phase 1, Assembly: Complete. Phase 2, Fill: Tomorrow. Phase 3, Transfer: Sunday. I'll be spending the next couple of hours disposing of the packing materials from today's work.

TFW: you back into the mechanic's car while driving the loaner... This was a $3200 repair bill *before*. How much will it cost now?

My 38 gallon freshwater fish tank is broken. Looking to replace it tomorrow, and keep all the fish. It's...going to be an adventure. Roughly 300 lbs of water and 16 sq ft of glass.

I did the math before I went to the store. What I thought was 38 gallons was actually 29. So we're replacing it with a 40 gallon tank. One piece was out of stock at the store, so it's being shipped. *Then* we can do the switch.

My wife wants me to wear makeup, curl or do more with my hair, and dress feminine more often, so she can "get used to it". She bought me clip-on earrings so she could get used to the idea of my having pierced ears. Inside a month I had just a single earring left, as they kept falling off.

I know I shouldn't dress for others, but I wonder if, before I get "work" done to help sell it, dressing more the part will aid in being correctly gendered while in public. I know it's worked once, who's to say lightning won't strike twice?

She's been great about finding clothing that fits me (shoes are a problem) and clothes that go together to make decent outfits, but not a lot *feels* like me. I've always been a "jeans and t-shirt" girl. Though I aspire to a softgoth/alt-girl aesthetic, I prioritize comfort over everything else.

I've looked down at my phone to see sports scores lately, and realize when seeing some of those scores that football season has started. Then I do a double-take when, no, that's a baseball score of 14-7. KC lost to the White Sox 14-11. Ridiculous.

Five hour drive to a funeral coming up. Where I will be deadnamed and misgendered. All packed and leaving in 20 minutes or so. I think the deceased would respect me. I've lots of fond memories of go-kart races and card games and just chatting. But I'm dreading the family.

Ouch. Five hours in a car did a number on my back. Why is it that I got old again? Seems like a terrible idea. Everything is broken or falling apart.

Watching "Angel" for the first time. They missed a real opportunity for "The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco": it could've been episode 5 of season 5...

Didn't have a good day. Don't know what to do about it. The thing I was going to do for myself didn't happen, so...🤷‍♀️ Next week, maybe? Hopefully? 😣

It's been three years since I started hormones. I'm seeing the woman I am more and more in the mirror. Unless I'm hot and sweaty, which, given the weather, takes a fraction of a second just *existing* outside.

Trump's temper tantrum is now affecting a major employer in our town (and state). Will this be enough for our Republican congress critters to stand up to him? Hint: they're all rich white men.

I'm American. I was raised to "clean my plate." I'm also used to large portions at restaurants. But some? They stick a plate with ~10 lbs (4.54kg) of food in front of each person. We're expected to eat all this? Maybe over the course of a long weekend...

Also, what is it with serving a prime number of appetizer...items? Seven fried pickle spears. Eleven mozzarella sticks. Five potato skins. Are they trying to start fights at the table?

I got my flu and covid shots on Friday, and, at least for me, I was out of it most of Saturday. A million times better than having either, but plan accordingly if you need to!

Bottom surgery is a possibility within the year! Exciting and scary at the same time. I could do BA at the same time, but I'm wondering if I should wait to give the E more time to work its magic.

Do I share (with her) the one I like the best? Do I share the story I just started that hasn't got legs yet (because I'm not sure where it's going)? Or do I share the stories that are basically diary entries with a thin veneer of fiction spread over them?

Our CIO didn't want us using *unsanctioned* AI products, so he decided to block the .ai TLD. We're only allowed to use Microsoft CoPilot with the GPT 5.4 model, but since the documentation is on the OpenAI website (unsanctioned), we can't see that either.

Went to the regionally famous Eskimo Joe's for dinner. All the food was delicious, especially the cheese fries (but those were tainted by the praise of George W. Bush). I wish we had the time to wander around, because the building looked really cool, especially in the 105°F heat.

Attending a Native American Southern Baptist Church this morning, to appease the in-laws. Subjecting myself to hours of deadnaming, misgendering, and pretending I'm not an apostate. I care about them, but... Sometimes you're guilted into compliance and it sucks.

Just watched Buffy S5E16 "The Body". Having lost my mom weeks ago, I viscerally understood the feelings expressed by every member of the Scooby Gang. Anya was probably the most emotionally relatable character in that situation.
