It's just incredibly hostile behavior what the team of #Trakt is doing. Deleted my API application that I was using for over a year. Disabled the OneDrive export of my data. All without a single notification. Whoever is in charge there: fuck you. I delete my account.

Maintaining critical software now comes with a security burden that has outgrown what any volunteer can reasonably carry. That's why we're upgrading our open source program from the Team plan to the Business plan, full protection for maintainers at no cost. socket.dev/blog/free-bu...

socket.devFree Business Plan Upgrades for Open Source Maintainers - So...Open source maintainers are under more pressure than ever. We're raising our open source program from the Team plan to the Business plan, free.

In some parallel universe, we have all agreed on 2026-08-06 being the one and only date format. Sadly we are in this universe, where Lucidchart shows the confusing US format despite having all locale options set to German. ๐Ÿ™„

#Claude replicates human behavior, sadly the bad ones too. ๐Ÿ˜ My local Agent configuration contains strict working rules. After breaking those rules multiple times, Claude explained it's just a habit and rewording the rules would probably not help. Well....

"It's not a wording problem, it's that dash-as-punctuation is a strong default habit I need to actively suppress, not something a clearer rule will fix by itself."

I thought about moving to #Codeberg a few times already, even donated to support their cause. But I find it deeply worrying that a platform dedicated to free software now starts to dictate which software is allowed. Feels like some neckbeard AI-haters turned Codeberg into a weapon.

I anyone else who's using Paddle for payments, receiving marketing #spam from #Stripe telling that Paddle is bad and one should switch to Stripe? 6 mails in the past weeks, even after opt-out, even after personal feedback to the sales guy. That's not okay.

Ford has rehired hundreds of senior engineers after replacing them with AI backfired and has cost the company billions of dollars. AI adoption is blamed for Ford being the most recalled automaker in the U.S. with 51 recalls covering over 11 million vehicles in the first half of 2026 alone.

Is anyone else working with #Codex 5.5 and noticed that this model loves to make everything as complex as possible? Like why put the solution into a 20 line function when you can get 20 functions instead, each filled to the brim with complicated code?! ๐Ÿ˜ #aihorror #aicoding

People praise the newest models like #Codex 5.5, yet I encounter many significant logic holes in what they produce. And it's tedious to explain all the context to a bot that forgets it three prompts later. #AI is not the answer to most of the problems we have today, not even that of limited time.

I was kinda burnt-out at the end of last year. I felt like there's so much to do, yet too little to to tackle anything. For the past two months, I've been experimenting with the "1% rule": instead of few heavy lifts, I did smaller things but like every day. #opensource #maintainers #coding

This works considerably better. I feel like I'm more productive but still have plenty of time left. I thought that leaving larger tasks on the desk and looking at them the next day would be bad, but it's pretty much doable. No demanding focus shifts. ๐Ÿ’ช

Could we all please stop this ridiculous automated closing of GitHub issues?! Or at least set sensible defaults like 9 months, and not 30 days? #github #opensource #rant

Been using #Pushover for over a decade now. Zero problems. Zero downtime. I donated a few times because it's weird to get such a great, useful service for free. Whoever runs it, props to you! ๐Ÿ’›

Currently rebuilding my Home Lab with Ansible and CI pipelines on my own Forgejo instance. And the stuff just works?! How refreshing! #homelab #coding #programming

Calling all #PHP developers ๐Ÿ‘‹ Join us for JetBrains #PHPverse โ€“ a free online event that brings together PHP developers from around the world. I want to set up a #Forgejo Action Runner which starts #Docker images via docker-in-docker. Only issue: I am unable to authenticate against private registries. The dind container aborts with 401 Unauthorized. Does anyone know how to configure a Forgejo dind runner to access private registries? ๐Ÿ™

No wonder that so many services get hacked. Currently figuring out a Hashicorp #Vault setup and the first tutorial I find just disables mlock (needed for a production server!) and grants privileged access to the #Docker container. And it gets even worse: #Codex suggested the same. WTF?!

I am really torn between letting #AI tackle tasks that I just don't have the time for, or doing it on my own and push through. Throwing AI on issues may solve a problem, but introduces holes in your #knowledge about and #maintainability of the code. I can't be the only one. ๐Ÿซ

People, get this amazing game. Especially if you like Stardew Valley and the like.

I am so sick of maintaining LinkAce right now. The only feedback I get is stupid security vulnerabilities and why features are not being implemented. I am just one click away from archiving the whole damn project. ๐Ÿคฌ #opensource #maintainers

Can't be the only one with @github.com failing to write to its own Actions Cache?! Getting a 502 and their Unicorn page. ๐Ÿซ  #55 exporting to GitHub Actions Cache #55 ERROR: error writing layer blob: failed to parse error response 502: <!DOCTYPE html>

If you ever need an certificate or the like, do yourself a favor and avoid SSL.com for that. Horrible experience, unhelpful customer service. Essentially lost $60 now and got nothing. ๐Ÿ˜
