It’s sad to hear the Outer Worlds 2 performed poorly enough in the sales department that a sequel is not being planned. OW1 was one of my favorite games of all time, and OW2 didn’t quite match the magic of the first one, but it’s still unfortunate to hear that franchise is being shelved.

Do you love summer and horror? How about summer horror? 👻☀️ Space cruises gone wrong, late night encounters with ghosts, evil cults operating in seemingly charming villages... The Summerween Bundle has all that and more! Get it now: itch.io/b/3743/summe... 💙📚📦

I was able to put in about 6 hours of work on an upcoming project today! Finally got around to adding a save game/load game system (and debugging all the chaos that comes with that), changing the UI around, and laying the groundwork for some of the future work! #gamedev #godot #itch.io

I finally got around to getting a playable web version (and .exe) of a #PyGame project i was developing for a few months back in 2024-25. It was a great learning experience coding so much starting with nothing! Check it out on my #itch page! frontlinestudios.itch.io/final-stand #FinalStand

I must say, time and effort vs progress wise, incremental games are easily my favorite to work on. I can have a nice fleshed out prototype with hours of gameplay ready in just a few hours. Most recently, about 8 hours into dev, i had 20 units, a story mode, and a random battle system.

I’m excited to continue to develop and polish this project. While it won’t re-invent the wheel or shatter the earth, it is already scratching an itch i’ve had ever since Storm8 EoL’ed “World War”… so even if nobody else enjoys it, I sure will!

While working on Knifepoint, I was able to integrate Dialogic, and create some semblance of a story that unfolds in real time as the player explores the world. Figuring out how to work that in, freeze the world outside of the dialogue, etc. will surely come in handy later.

I think my big research goal in the next few weeks is going to be learning how to make everything more modular. I spend so much time copying pasting and reworking code for similar yet slightly different game objs, i should be able to store the base functionality in resources (Godot) right?

I do wish learning game dev had a bit more structure. What parts am i winging and doing in the least efficient way possible? What parts am i actually grasping correctly? I have no idea, but trial and error is a long and painful process.

Is there any money in developing for web anymore? I feel like the golden age of browser games is far behind us, but the nostalgia makes me want to develop some HTML5 games and try my hand in the market. I miss flash games… curious if any of you do any browser game work?

My most competent and frankly impressive prototype to date. While it is nothing earth shattering, it is the farthest I have pushed myself in creating a refined and polished experience for players. Aside from never finishing the city design and making the demo level linear, as I had envisioned it…

Knifepoint turned out to be an amazing lesson in top-down shooter mechanics, which i have not experimented with at all since I was a young teenager. Revisiting and seeing the growth and how I was able to problem solve and work through issues I remember having previously, has been great.

Finally was able to finish the two OST/soundtrack asset packs I've been working on lately! Two releases in one day! Check out these projects on itch! Both projects offer a free full-length sample track with full rights! Check them out below!
