Babies first Risograph! I’m really happy with how it turned out, MARC The Printers did a great job. If you’d like one and didn’t already get one on the Arbrevyn kickstarter, we’ll be selling them at our album launch gig in Sheffield on Sunday, and then on Bandcamp

It’s 4 years since we lost my wonderful dad, and as he was and I remain a silly creature, I thought I’d share something silly that touched me. When I was a teen I bought back this King Ghidorah toy for him from a trip to San Fransisco.

I took it home with me after he’d gone, made a new mic bobble to replace the one that had gone missing over the years, and now it live in my office, along with my own mic and keyboard.

I don’t think he knew what it was (I barely did) but a keys playing AND singing dragon made me think of him too much not to get it for him. As the years passed and I grew up, I always assumed he had gotten rid of it…

Once more remembering the time many years ago an American mom emailed me to ask how her child could dress as me for Halloween. I’m still sad I can’t find the emails any more (she sent a photo of the result!) It is extra funny to me because here in the uk we only really do costumes of spooky things.

Feeling deeply weird about the Affinity announcement. Free, all in one app instead of three and they don’t train on your stuff, all good. Bringing in Canva’s Gen AI stuff ehhhhhhhh. Apparently you can hide the button and the AI is paywalled but it leaves a bad taste.

The Arbrevyn stuff has been the first album I’ve laid out in a fully Affinity+Procreate workflow and it’s been really nice. Please don’t mess up a good thing Canva

Man, who is this guy saying there are no women fans of Star Trek. I did a whole history of women in Star Trek fandom two years ago

Trektober 30 - The women of Star Trek fandom! Star Trek has a long history of fandom (One of the first!) and women are such an integral part of it that I thought I would highlight some of them! (Long thread upcoming)

It’s not long now till Not Long Now Till Dawn! Wanna come hear it in person? Can you get to the wonderful city of Sheffield on the 16th on November? Come hang out with us while we make harmonious noise at you! wegottickets.com/event/680574

wegottickets.comArbrevyn's Debut Album LaunchWe would like to invite you to celebrate the release of our debut album, Not Long Now Till Dawn. Come along and hear all the songs from the album in an intimate accoustic set - and have the chance to...

Litterally learning #affinity for my first album sleeve free of Adobe this week and I’m going to be so annoyed if this mysterious “Creative Freedom” is gonna be “we stuffed the thing you went to to get away from AI everywhere full of AI because Canva own us now”

There are 2 violinist students next door, they are pretty diligent in their practice, our walls are not thick and I work from home. Sometimes they are both practicing at once. I feel like the protagonist of a scribbly greyscale indie horror where some monster is hunting me through a boarding school.

Like at points it is quiet and chill but randomly through my day, [sudden frantic incomprehensible discordant violin soundtrack] I think I actually preferred the shouty rugby boys.

Got a tiny palette recently and treated myself to some nice paints to put in it to give myself a low stakes place to do some art for myself. Test doodle to break in the book from last night and remind myself I don’t have to do complicated serious things here, and my bento from my lunch break today

This is at the same time the government is pretty much turning a blind eye to racists painting on walls up and down the country. Art books will talk about how grotesque this is hundreds of years from now.

This post is unavailable.

Leeds and Leeds adjacent folk! My fellow beloved Arbrevyn dorks and I have a gig on Monday evening at the Grove! Come listen! There will be harmonies and nonsense and good times and we’d love to share them with you 🌻 wegottickets.com/event/668786/

wegottickets.comArbrevynWe are pleased to welcome for the first time Arbrevyn, an exciting vocal harmony trio based in the north of England, singing songs and dance tunes from Cornwall and all over. They are Cathy Bennett (B...

The fact that they have not lifted half a buttock to assist Palestine but soared like fucking eagles to rescue this barnacled creep is all the evidence we need that the government is ruderless.

Graham Linehan has argued for years that "trans activists" are the establishment that he is fighting against, yet, when he incites violence against trans people, the whole UK establishment - the prime minister, health secretary, Met police chief and the entire Uk Press - mobilise to defend him.

The load-bearing myth at the heart of UK politics is that the politicians and media are tolerant and decent and working people are knuckle-dragging bigots, but it's actually completely the other way around.

This. I LOVE you for it if you name your budget and deadline right away and I am 1000% more inclined to collaborate with you and figure out a way to make it work within these metrics.

WOLFSKULLJACK@wolfskulljack.bsky.social

If you actually have a reasonable budget to hire an artist for your project, TELL THEM IN YOUR INITIAL EMAIL TO THEM. Right off the bat. Here is the project, this is what I can pay, this is the deadline. We get so many time wasters it’s remarkably refreshing when a potential client is upfront

Last night had a lot of chopping (my knife skills are ok but still mid enough that match sticking things still takes a while) but now I have a bunch more dishes for the fridge and freezer. I know I don’t HAVE to make OJ carrots into flowers but they are so cute when I do so can’t help myself.

A lot of my friends and loved ones are in Morris sides and they are all good folks. I find display routine dancing a bit too stressful but the call is getting stronger. That said, I’d freaking LOVE to build a Morris Beast some time…

Patrick Clarke@paddyclarke.bsky.social

For @thequietus.com today, I wrote an essay about why we should stop scoffing about morris dancing, and instead view it as something radical, transgressive, and powerful enough to completely alter one's brain

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head. 🖊️🦑

Realised I didn’t get around to sharing this. 18th birthday commission for a friend’s child, it was lovely to get to try and capture so many little elements of their past and personality.
