Hey new people ! I'm Kness, I'm a potter and illustrator living in QC, Canada 🍁. I work on cute animal themed pottery and watercolor paintings. Here's a sample of what I'll share here and a few links ⤵️

The restocks will be smaller and more frequent, everything is still announced via the mailing list first (kness.myflodesk.com) and the waitlists on the website also work pretty well if you add my e-mail address to your favorites. I will focus on commissions, and offer more smaller priced items.

And from time to time I will also offer cute ceramics as I used to, it will probably be a biweekly occurrence with no specific day or time, and once I'm through this thing I will maybe resume monthly restocks. I guess it's the menopause phase of this whole thing XD Thank you ^^

And now some news : I'm making some changes to the shop restocks. I'm going to go through some health stuff and the monthly big restocks aren't sustainable anymore. It's too stressfull and I'm missing deadlines as well as taking too much time with commissions. So here's how I'm going to work.

Hiiii ! This is your Canadian ceramic artist writing! Soooo after this week-end debacle, I just wanted to write a little update about the Canada - USA trade war and how art is actually political. 80% of my work sells to the U.S. and it looks like I just lost my main source of income.

And the good news in all this ? 🍁 My fellow Canadian customers now have a 25% discount + free shipping until the end of the year. Support Canadian Artists and Small Businesses, emphasis on minority owned ones, share this and support each other. www.kness.net is where the cute stuff is.

PS to my dear U.S. customers : I know you feel bad, it’s not on you, I love you and I’ll do my best, always. If you are in the US and want to help, my illustrations are available on this US based print on demand service that pays us our share : www.inprnt.com/gallery/kness/ Thank you !

I’m still shipping to many countries including the USA with new codes, they are not entirely tariff free but they’re the least evil. Canada, Australia, the UK and some EU countries are still perfectly fine. 🍁Say Bonjour/Hi if you live in Canada and love handmade cute pottery :D

Shipping to the 9 EU countries discarded by Canada Post is not insured anymore. or it’s ups or dhl if available, my customers will pick their favorite method. EU countries where CP won’t ship: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Luxemburg, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

The U.S. new tariffs of 50% on art is making it extremely hard on all Canadian small creative businesses. + Last month, Canada Post also decided they would stop shipping to 9 EU countries because of another new tariff situation. So that’s 90% of my business down the drain because of trade wars.

This looks grim and sad, i spent several nights thinking about this and many hours researching. 🌈HOWEVER🌈 as a : Menopausal French Canadian Woman, This is not my first rodeo, nor my last and i MOSTLY run on spite. so I'm looking for solutions. And I’m looking at my following and customers.

Yesterday I was walking Billy and a lady noticed him looking at me, and she said : I just miss mine so much, she was a 18 yo chihuahua. I said : I know, it's tough. She went : yes, I miss her and people tell me it was just a dog, but she was so much more. And seeing grief dismissed made me so sad.

Interactions like that are one of the reasons I work on pet portraits and especially memorial portraits. A pet is often more than family, they're who you spend the most time with. They're here all day, every day, depending on you for everything their whole life. We made them that way.

It's never just a dog, just a cat, just a pet. They're family, best friend, love of your life. And people rightfully grieve them as such. Like Tsumo, who was David and Eve's Shiba Inu for 13 years.

🐋 While I'm working on the website, I stumbled upon this painting I created a while back. It's called *40 Whales Left* : The North Pacific right whale (Eubalaena japonica) has a population that summers in the Bering Sea, and it has less than 40 whales left. It's on www.inprnt.com/gallery/kness/

No cheating, post your lock screen! 🌕 Still this amazing piece of Slip and Hop by @lichjuliorra.bsky.social It's on my iPad as well

+ a few close ups because I cropped them for social media (and postcards, maybe). And since you didn't ask, a group of capybara is technically a herd, but the internet has decided it should be called a Meditation and I think it's beautiful.

Oh and shipping to Europe is paused until Canada post gets their s+++ together and are able to collect the new tax of €3 per item. This tariff thing is so annoying it really feels like new month / new rule. So annoying. It will resume, eventually.
